Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #1 – April 27, 2005, 12:50:13 PM When you turn the for the headlights, pull the out (toward you) to turn on the fog lights. It's not very intutive until you've done it once, then it's more logical.I'm not sure about the sunroof. Quote Selected
Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #2 – April 27, 2005, 12:58:20 PM Not true, on the 96' Explorer the Fog lamp switch is a button on the radio "surround" it a button on the right side of the radio. The sunroof probem could be a couple of things. First off, and most likely is the cable that controls the mechanism is not lubed properly, wd40 the out of every thing, work the roof back and forth, and it should free up, carefull not to do it to many times as the relay will overheat. If that does not correct the problem, start searching down either a motor problem (dead spot, requires replacing), a cable obstruction (free the obstuction and lube), or a broken cable (replace cable). Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #3 – April 27, 2005, 01:02:39 PM Ah, I must have been thinking of the 1997's...my buddy has that newer setup on his truck. Thanks for the correction. Quote Selected
Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #4 – April 27, 2005, 01:12:49 PM I know that almost all of the new vehicles have it on the headlamp switch, but the 06' and 07' models we have are going back to a seperate switch, they are using a low current board to control all of the other lights, but the standard switch/relay for the foglamps. Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #5 – April 27, 2005, 01:55:08 PM The Explorer interior is the same as a Ranger, right? My '99 ranger has a switch on the right of the radio under the aux 12V power supply. When the switch is on the fog lights come on in lowbeam. When in high beam the fog lights go out. Quote Selected
Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #6 – April 27, 2005, 06:48:03 PM My father's '00 Exploder had the switch next to the radio surround as well - when you sit in the pass. seat with your right leg across your left one you tend to kick the button :DOn the subject of Exploders, anyone have access to the owner's manual for one? I'd like to know the "Magnetic variance" setting for the compass in the overhead console. This variance is to calibrate the thing to read correctly according to your longitude - I would need the variance for Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, more particularly). I used a GMC Jimmy manual and set it to "12", thinking that since the temp sensor from the Jimmy worked the thing was probably made by the same company anyway, but it would be nice to know for sure... Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #7 – April 27, 2005, 07:08:14 PM It looks to be 12 or 13. Here are a couple of scans out of the book. Quote Selected
Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #8 – April 27, 2005, 07:57:31 PM Hmmm... Looks like I should've used "13". Thanks once again, Gunkel! Quote Selected
Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #9 – April 28, 2005, 11:22:33 PM Oh yeah, thanks guys. Finally i saw my truck with that lights On. Looks good. For the sunroof, only another question. The sunroof that come from the factory in these years are completely Retractable (the glass opens completely ) or only is a "pop-up" sunroof, that only allows to open a little to get some air. The console of the Sunroof only have a electric button that opens it, but only opens a little like a "pop-up". Maybe is a problem or the sunroof is only like that....Thanks.... Quote Selected
Re: Dumb questions..... Reply #10 – April 29, 2005, 02:12:35 AM The roof should open all of the way, along with venting, or popping up, again, clean and lube the cable and mechanism, and check for any obstructions. Quote Selected
