My 1996 SS Cougar

haha, got bored yesterday and wanted to do something different to the cougar.  So I had this scoop from an old camaro laying around and figured...  "what the hell, why not?"

Still have to pull the screws once the adhesive cures and do the body work and paint the car, but it looks good enough for now LOL.

I like it, kind of shagy looking and flows great with the lines.

And those pictures are a perfect answer to your question, "Why not?"

Did some more work on it today.  Took out all the stone chips and started to mold in the scoop.

She isnt quite done yet but I was running out of daylight.  had to primer what I had done.

Picked up a DA sander today and loving it!

Did that just fit right on there? or did you make it fit that nice?
What kind of DA did you get?

I had to cut the triangle out for the indent, then as you can see it the first pics, it is screwed down with sheet metal screws til the adhesive cured.  the scoop was flat so it needed the screws to bend it down and form it to the hood.  gave it 2 days to be sure...  other then that it is the perfect length.

Since I added the wing the torsion bars in the trunk werent strong enough to hold the trunk open anymore so I added a brand new set of trunks support struts from a '95 GT.  I just got done doing this to my '96 Cougar today.  I cut the mounting hardware out of the back of my wifes '96 Explorer that we are sping, and welded in to the Cougar.  I am happy with it so far.  I have a Saleen S351 wing and it opens no problem at all.

Here is a video clip of me poping the trunk on my remote:

....and since I had the welder out the other day I decided to delete the front trim that goes on the hood for the grill and wedled up the holes and blended the scoop down to the front lip of the hood (now I am making a custom grill for it...), then welded up the holes in the pass. quarter where the badge use to be, then I cut out the rotted section of rocker panel along the pass side and welded in fresh metal...

Here is the hood:

Well, here it is in all its glory....  I think the mixer put too much pearl purple in it...  the colour is suppose to be code JA Ford 1996 Bright Saphire Blue Metallic.

I need to wet sand it in a few days and put another coat or two on and paint the wing and bolt on.
