351W + parts for sale

This sale is intended for local pickup only. I just don't have the means to haul something like this around. I'm in Port Charlotte, FL.. 90 miles south of Tampa.

I acquired a carbed 351W in the trade to get my first T-bird, last June. It's originally from a 1987 Econoline. However, I am told that it required a rebuild in 1997, which involved sticking a new short block under the existing carbed (4v) manifold and original heads. It then accumulated about another 6000 miles before being pulled from the van and stored.

The engine is dirty from having been put back in the van again and run for awhile before storage.. but should clean up nicely. (I might even do that sometime soon if I get bored and feel like killing an evening over at my friend's house, where the engine and other parts are stored)

We're asking $750 OBO for the engine, based on advice from this forum. However.. if someone is feeling generous and offers close to the requested price, my friend said he would throw in all Ford parts he has remaining from the van. That includes the C6 that was behind the 351, any accessories he has left from the 351, (PS and A/C, I think.. but no brackets) the radiator, and the driveshaft. More might be available.. I will have to go over there tonight or tomorrow, take stock of what's available, get pics of everything, and update this post accordingly. He also has the carb for it, which would most likely go with the engine no matter what it sells for.

The '87 351W/5.8L "HO" was listed at 210 hp w/ a 4v carb, from what I've been able to gather.. but if you're interested in buying something like this, I'm pretty sure you're not interested in keeping it stock.

I have to get this engine sold soon, so I can finish paying for the LSC I picked up the other day. I get really stressed out when I owe people money like this.

NOTE: The 351 is currently on an engine stand inside my friend's workshop. He has a car blocking easy access to that workshop, and that car is waiting for a new wiring harness. In other words, it may not be moving very far for a little while. (although he said something about having found a harness for it) If you would *need* the engine immediately, it might be a problem to get to.. but if you're in no hurry, that's great. We'll be happy to hold onto it for you until you can arrange to come get it.

If you're interested, please reply in here or send me a PM. I'm kinda quirky like this, but I really don't like Emailing people if I can avoid it. Mainly because I get a lot of spam on some of my Email addresses, and I tend to mindlessly delete stuff coming from names I don't immediately recognize on the Email header.

(BTW: Feel free to move this to Misc. For Sale if you feel you'd rather have it there)

BTW.. the Email reply from this first guy reminded me to say something. Sorry if this turns a bit rant-ish. It's not intended that way. I just have a lot on my mind, and need to remove some of it for my own good.

If you decide this is too expensive for you, that you can get a 351 locally for much less or whatever, that's great. By all means, if you're in the market for a 351, I suggest you jump all over a good deal. However, I'm not some junk yard or parts store.. I'm just an unemployed guy trying to pay off a car I put a deposit on because I was reasonably sure I had three things I could sell that, when totalled up, should pay for the car plus tag and title transfer.

Apparently I'm not going to be so lucky. I put a battery to this watch I have, and it works, but the front buttons don't work. Probably needs cleaning, but I'm not going to chance delicate work with shaky hands. But then that detracts from the value.

The third thing aside from the engine and the watch was my credit-farming setup in an online game. Unfortunately, thanks to Chinese players who are more than happy making $5-10 a day at it, the bottom just fell out of that market and rendered my setup nearly worthless. I'd have more luck selling the junk that came in the 3 collectors' edition boxes we bought when we started.

As for the engine itself, there's a thread around here where I asked what I should ask for an engine like this if I sold it. I'm going exactly by what was said there. Only difference is, now a friend has offered to throw in a bunch of extra parts that may or may not be useful to the buyer.

I badly want this LSC to remain in my yard and become officially mine. So much so that, if worse comes to worse, I will probably end up selling my '88 T-bird (the one that probably needs a fuel pump) just to try and cover this. Hell, I'm even considering temping again.. but that was a hairy endeavor even when my back wasn't bad.. went to an agency that uses a typing speed test that is not flattering to my usual typing method, and made me score much slower than I actually type.. so all that left me with is day labor.

At any rate, I'm not trying to screw anyone here. I just need as much as I can reasonably get out of this stuff.

Looks like I'll be putting an ad in the paper for this one.

What the hell.. didn't hurt to try the free route first. Kinda expected this considering most of you are over 1000 miles away. :p
