2011 Mustang V6

I can't believe Ford is going for so much HP in the base Mustang for 2011:

Of course this makes me feel like a loser since my '07 GT only is rated at 300hp...but torque is what makes the wheels go 'round.

400+ hp for the V8.

The only thing that upsets me about it............

Besides, it's pretty widely known the 300 HP figure for the 3V is a slight under-rating.

Throw a blower on it.  You'll feel better ;)

What are you complaining about? Would you rather have less gears?

He's complaining because he does have less gears. He's got an '05 (or '06, or anyway, an '0something)

19 city and 30 highway for the auto, and 18 city and 29 highway for the stick? Either auto's now take less power or people need to learn how to drive...

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Look at the difference between auto and manual fusions. Supposedly the auto gets 34 hwy while the manual only manages 31? Gearing?

I agree I think 300 hp on my little 3v is a little underrated.  It sure feels like more to me.  And while I agree, a blower would put a smile on my face I think the wife and the bank account would not be very happy.

I just think its crazy that the previous generation (99-04) Mustang GT 4.6 2v had what, 260hp?  And now the V6 model is going to be sporting over 300!  Hell the '04 Mach 1's had about 305 hp (I'm sure they are more potent than this V6 due to more torque).  Its crazy how things are progressing.  Its like 1969 all over again sometimes.
