Another I Finally Broke It(yep, I Did)

Yep the Bird's limping, dropped a cylinder tonight at the drag strip(in eliminations of course, scratch the white T-Bird) ... No internal noise, sounds OK cranking, thinking compression is probably good... Tried a new spark plug and another computer, so I'm suspecting a fuel injector problem... Would have pulled it at the track but didn't have another and it's #3 under the throttle body neck of the Cobra intake... I'll check resistances from the EEC connector to see what I can find...

She did limp the 47 miles home, with no apparent ill effects... It's only totally left me once and that was when the fuel pump quit at VMP(93 miles from home)... I drove it back in 2nd the night I broke the inner tranny input shaft, that was it's first outing...

Hopefully it's just an injector. Don't you have a crank walk problem with the engine in the Bird?

Yeah but the new 331 should fix that...

I lost an injector on the turbo 2.3 one night. I made it home, but just barely. I recall using a mechanic's stethoscope to find the bad injector - it worked nicely.
That engine hated me.

Ha! You think YOUR engine hates you? Mine won't run worth a  right now, stalled out in the middle of the road earlier. I suspect the cap, and then I have to dial the carb with new metering rods. I think Mine hates me more right now.

Sorry to be of zero help, just thought I'd mention it since we were on the topic of angry/malfunctioning engines.

Well your story is no good. I was hoping for something about how you took a 150hp car and abused it trying to make it look fast til things broke. Then I come in here and your speaking of a real car that can run.

150HP??? Naw my shiznit was makin' at least that much per cylinder(OK maybe only 140Hp per)... Still that's 1120Hp total, so loosing a cylinder cut me back to 980Hp... Lost on a 4.40 dial(remember I run 1/8 mi), as it only ran a 4.87, couldn't catch the 12.20 sec Festiva I was chasing...

Oh yeah? My neighbor's cousin's friend's brother has a '95 Aspire that runs low 11s in the dead heat of summer with 87 octane and a trunk full of bricks. I once watched it pull the front wheels off the ground.

Beat that.

Yeah.

Welp, looks like I actually broke it, injectors clicked fine on the stethoscope... It didn't sound right cranking cold though, compression check reveals #3 hole only has about 35psi... Now guessing I broke a rocker arm... As long as the head ain't hurt, I don't really care, new rockers are part of the plan for the 331...

the plan for the 331...

Got another engine you're building now, or gonna go with the block that's currently in-car?

Nope, have another block and 331 kit ready to go together(may already be, gotta call my engine guy)...

Verdict is in, #4 hole has 35Lb as well, no doubt has a blown HG... I checked comp in #2 thinking it may have gone to the front as there was a bit of a dip in the deck at that point from last time the gasket went back in '03(was loosing water that time)... Still cold #2 was making 165lb...

Well, it put up a good fight lol.
Any other stuff besides the stroker kit on the new engine? any other upgrades (aside from the obvious)?

Naah since it already has the TF heads & cam, probably the only upgrade will be 1.7 rockers to repl the current 1.6... Just planning on freshening everything else up a bit... There is the possibility I'll send the converter back for a restall, but if another buddy comes through with a wide ratio setup for the AOD, I'll probably leave it alone...
