finally did it Reply #17 – November 23, 2009, 03:02:39 PM I had a friend in high school who beat on his car like it sounds like you do. We all thought he was and idiot because he was destroying cars with his constant beatings. Keep it up and the trans being destroyed wont be your only prob. Quote Selected
finally did it Reply #18 – November 23, 2009, 06:39:17 PM I quit beating on my cars when I started to go through motor mounts. I've also blown transmissions and rear ends; I'm feeling like those days are behind me now. Quote Selected
finally did it Reply #19 – November 23, 2009, 06:52:24 PM I broke my AOD because I didn't do any up-grades to it after the GT40 5.0 went in. It died not from neutral drops or beating on it (I baby the car on the street) but from drag racing at the track. It still works but anything more than 1/2 throttle in 1st or 2nd gear and it slips like crazy. If I had just put some sort of shift kit in and a cooler the AOD would probably still be ok. If your engine bay wasnt so friggin' clean I'd bust your balls for not puttin a kit in it. Quote Selected

finally did it Reply #25 – November 24, 2009, 06:48:19 PM No hate for the AOD here. I think the biggest problem with them is that most people use the WRONG tranny fluid for one, and improper TV cable setting. Im laying down 280RWHP & 307 RWTQ in my 93 stang LX with an AOD. Keep in mind this is a naturally aspirated car with a very mild 306 (f-303 cam, flat top with valve relief hyper pistons, Edelbrok 5.0 heads 202/160 valves, 1.7 crane race gold RR's, cobra intake and a bigger MAF and T-body) These are not particularly stellar numbers by far but for basically a bolt on engine im pretty happy with the 280 HP with the AOD. Not to mention i can cruise the highway in the car and still get 20 MPG or so. Just my .02 Quote Selected

My AOD ain't seen anything but "F" for the last 10 years(Oct '99) and it has about 750-800 drag strip passes, a few with nitrous(I do change it every spring though)... Yeah it's getting a bit tired, but with the Trans-Go shift kit still is far firmer than any stock AOD... Quote Selected
finally did it Reply #28 – November 24, 2009, 09:47:23 PM how is a c4 a downgrade? for what i do with the car, it's perfect. this car is not a cruiser, it's a weekend play toy, i have no use for ODlower first gear, get off the line a little quicker. stouter built, stock for stock. cheaper to build. finally did it Reply #29 – November 24, 2009, 11:09:10 PM Yeah the C4 has a 2.46 1st ratio and the the AOD a 2.40, big difference...Main advantage of a C4 is it's a bit lighter... Quote Selected
