The trans on the awd sc looks like an aod judging from the tranny oil pan. The transfer case and front "transaxle" are anyone's guess.

Come to think of it, drivetrain power losses are probably greater than average. I wonder how much of the 210 horses made it to the wheels.

Those are really cool pics. Right click, save as (and added to my folder of prototype pics which includes some of the AWD SC, a twin turbo 3.8 concept engine, and, of course, the PPG car).

The trans in that is definitely AOD. The transfer case is likely something along the lines of the one used in early 90's AWD Aerostars. The front differential looks to be a one-off (or more accurately, "few off" since there was more than one prototype). The housing looks to be bolted onto the oil pan, and the axle shaft obviously passes through the pan. Wonder if the engine and differential shared lubricants?

The AWD SC has wheels like a Porsche 928.

Those are actually Mustang SVO wheels!

Looking around a bit on Ebay UK, I see that the 4x4 versions of the Sierra XR4X4 used a similar oil pan http://tinyurl.com/Sierra-XR4X4

And a similar front differential. http://tinyurl.com/Sierra-XR4x4-front-diff

I was told that the early prototypes had around 245Hp but were detuned.

I keep thinking about pulling mine out of the weeds and parting it out but I need a truck and a trailer with a winch or a good come along

Wish you where closer.... I want another one, not that I need another project.

Its only good for parts really. I mainly keep telling myself to tear it down and sell stuff but I keep putting it off. Body was to rotten to save and the engine has a spun bearing in it. I have pretty much given up hope in EVER seeing that thing back on the road.

It appears that they could be Porsche 928 wheels and not SVO wheels. More specifically 928 fronts.
SVO wheels had 10 slots where 928 wheels had 7 slots.

Neat pics, thanks for sharing.
