It's a grand cheaper on the Willowbrook Ford website, so is it cheaper yet if you are actually standing in the lot?  :hick:

It would be interesting to know the story behind the original owner's intentions. I'm assuming that based on the mileage, condition and option content that it was purchased as a future collectible which makes me ask the question. Why the automatic?

I was saying a while back that I have seen these cars slowly going up in value. We'll see.I wish that we had a better aftermarket.I'd LOVE some resto parts, but,we just don't have the following the Mustang guys do to keep prices down.Wouldn't a "Fox Thunderbird/Cougar" catalog make you cry manly tears of joy.?.

Why not? The guy obviously wanted every option available. Im sure back in 1988 the car didnt have the community like it has now. Im also sure people didnt know how much autos sucked. Maybe they just wanted to cruise.

If I were to sell my Mustang right now as it sits I'd ask for $19,000......

There is no way in hell I would pay $17,000 for one of these cars in 2009.  In 2039 if you find me one in that condition with that mileage maybe, but not today....

THAT is a matter of personal preference.  Shift kit, converter, hi rev governor, hardened input shaft, and setting the TV valve for holding gears for a bit = fun with reliability from an AOD.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Maybe I could talk him down :rollin:

I'm pretty sure the 4ALD sucks though. From what I've read they spit their guts with any sort of power. If I had the car I'd probably just keep it stock to preserve it. I have another T-bird to play with.....that needs the AOD fixed:hick:
