The BMW 635csi

Does anyone else here hold an affinity for these cars? I mean, the proportions are so in line with 83-88 Birds and even Cougars. I think I read once there was some design crossover with these cars and ours. I had an '88 635 once but honestly, I couldn't keep up with the maintenance. The thing owned me and left me walking home with two bags of groceries one day. I ate 6 popsicles during the three mile walk home.

I like BMWs but for what it costs to keep them going I have not bought one yet.

BTW, I had a 1988 T-Bird Sport way back when. I found out that it was totalled shortly after trading it in. It still has the ignition switch recall to date.

Special thanx to EricCoolCats for showing me to this site.

I've always seen the relative horizontal lengths of the deck, doors, and hood as spot on with the Tbird. Supported by the fact that the back seat is almost meaningless.

Chuck... I'd like to see that BMW I attached above positioned right next to your silver bird.... in my driveway. As far as alternative wheels go, whatever you've got on your bird is in total sync with the rest of the car. What is that wheel? :)

thats a great looking car, and i do see some resemblance... proportions are bigger or smaller compared to the bird/cougars, but i can see where its coming from.. but if i were to buy a bmw, i'd get an E30 325i i think it is?  i found a nice e30 while searching for a new car, but then i found the mx5 and never followed up on the e30.  they remind me of the datsun 510, which is hard to find unless you want to completely rebuild it.

Thanks.

Those are the 94-95 Cobra wheels.

There certainly is a resemblance, and designers oft the '83 T-Bird freely admitted that  they got their design inspiration from the 6-series. I've got an old Road & Track magazine from 1982 with an article on the upcoming '83 T-Bird, and the person they interviewed said such.

its a art is in the eye of the beholder thing when trying to see the 2 designs cars have a resemblance.

Looking at the rear deck from that angle, it looks almost spot on (but distorted). The front window is similar on the top 90%, as are most of the fenders. That's about it.

To me, the rear looks like more of a Mark 7.
