Well my latest adventure with my 88 Tbird is the Tranny-to-fuel injector cable came off going down the road and sometime in the process of trying to limp it home in 2nd gear 3rd and 4th burnt out.

So basically i have to drive it around with a top speed of a whopping 35-40 mph until i can get a hold of another tranny. These are the times when i wish that my town had Tbirds in it. there are about 2 others i have seen and ive only seen them once. I have put in rear shocks, brakes, rotors turned, and now about to get a transmission. Next is tires, radiator, headlight housings that are actually bright enough to see the road, and front struts. Then if nothing else goes wrong, my daily driver will be reliable until then next problem comes up. my car will be brand friggen new by the time im done. hahaha.

t-birds are not the only car with an AOD in them. LTD's, Grand Marquis, mustangs, f150 trucks, e150 vans, and the hot aod to have is the one out of a t-bird supercoupe.

lol I dont know the name. its the linkage cable connected to the same lever as the gas.... im technically challenged on most parts of my car....lol.

well there arent any supercoupes in town and the only one ive ever seen around was a 5 speed my brother bought. so im SOL for those, but the LTD's.....wouldnt the tailshaft be too long?

Nope, only LSC Lincolns and P/Us used the longer AOD...

cant you just swap the t-bird tailhousing onto the longer transmissions and cut the excess shaft off? i read somewhere that you could, i am in no way trying to mislead anyone if this info is incorrect

i got a good running, good shifting AOD ready to drop in another bird. i put about 5-10K on it so i know its good. 200 and its your's. :o

I think it's right next to the turboencabulator made of pure alloy.:hick:

I've never heard of that. Then again I haven't really looked. I would think that the output shaft would be a royal PITA to cut through.

i have a th350 that the shaft was cut on (converted from 2wd-4wd). looks to have been done with an abrasive cutoff wheel.

Oh is that behind the exhaust bearings, ahead of the blinker fluid resevior and right on top of the intake belt?

Whiteboy, what you refer to is the TV cable, lol.

Umm, I had one, but I've already parted ways with it. I DO have an AOD from a V6 Tbird...from what I understand, it's basically the same as the v8 versions.

It shifted fine the last time I drove the car, but that was late 2006.
If you wanna come up to north missouri, and help me pull it out, you're welcome to it. Hell, we could work something out if you wanted me to deliver it...or ship it, or whatnot.

PM me if you're interested...someone may as well use it, instead of just sitting in the car lol.
