having doubts...

I am still here. As some know, I decided to sell(part out) my car and bought a Saleen Mustang. Well, I started putting the bird back together to sell it: put on the fenders, header panel, lights, started the interior panels, headliner, etc. I forgot how much I liked the looks of these(the car was apart for almost two years). Once again, I am sick over it. I already sold the whole powertrain, turbo system, fuel system, :punchballs: NOS quarter windows :punchballs:, ignition, etc. I really don't expect anyone here to tell me to just sell it, but lets hear some advice.

I have tried to be "done with Cougars". I can't do it. I managed to sell all of my stuff at one point. No cougars, and no cougar parts. It lasted about 6 depressing months.

I couldn't take it anymore. I broke down and bought a cougar, and another... and another, heh. I am back to having 2 cats currently, and a building full of parts.

It's natural to want to be done with it sometimes. But you'll be back. Look! You're already on your way back... These cars are like crack.

with all the work you put into it, I would imagine it's tough to just let go.
I couldn't get rid of mine 2 years ago. and  I figured before it was all over, that you would look back and wonder if it was the right thing..
Just remember, that what ever you decide, it'll be the right choice, one way or the other.

Pretty much every panel on my 87 is new, rebuilt, or re constructed. :D

Stick a motor/trans in it, drive it a while, and if you still don't want to keep it, then let it go.  You have to make the right choice for you.  By the way, that car looks great, even the way it sits now.
88 TC 5speed, 168000+ miles, stock 2.3T long block, ported RFE6 exhaust, Evergreen T3 running 15#'s.
Up next: FMIC, fresh air intake, ported intakes, ported big valve head.

drop a stock engine and trans in it a DD it!
It looks way too good to part out anymore. Just drop a stock 5.0 HO in it. Gas milage isnt too bad on a stock 5.0

I thought about just dropping something in to drive it. Of course, I just sold my fuel system, so that would have to be taken care of first. I'm just not sure, because I have a vision of what I want it to be and look. My concern is the amount of money, time and lack of new/replacement parts are few and far between.

LOL I didn't see this thread I wish I didn't just send you that pm... We talked before about it and I regret selling my 88 tbird for the last 2 years now. I like my cougar but the motivation just isn't there. I would keep it, if it was me... now knowing what I know, after selling mine

I would be sick if I sold even one of mine..  cars are like family members to me.  if they die, give them another chance.  keep it and tuck it away till the time is right.

It would be difficult for me to sell a shell that clean. Around here, rust free cars are like gold. If the body is as nice as it looks, don't sell it. You will regret it sooner than later.

 Jim-looking good. I agree with Demon sell it. I think you should at least put a stock drivetrain in it (5.0). Then sell it.

I have thought about putting a stock drivetrain in to sell it. The only problem with that scenario is that someone who would be buying it, more than likely wouldn't be leaving a stock 5.0 in it. It would be a waste of my time and money, because I doubt I would get any more for it.

I am going to finalize my decision tonight when the body shop owner stops by and they work up a quote on paint and bodywork. I have a feeling it won't be pretty....

Talked with the bodyshop owner at my house. Looked over the car and he was fairly impressed with the condition. The only problem is that I want a show quality paint job with two colors, which means he sees dollar signs. Also, the drivetrain I have in mind is a little bit pricey. I think I may be leaning towards selling.
