paint on my car September 01, 2009, 04:46:36 PM Well, I think my car is going to see paint very soon so I thought I'd post a few pics of what it looks like now. I'm going to start sanding today. I'm getting it ready for paint myself. As I've mentioned, the paint finish was very dull and orange-peeled:I gouged the hood with a drill-sander and had to put primer over it. The only color I had was orange. There is a lot of over-spray on the car, on the chrome and trim. The driver's door has some rust and I wanted to see how deep it was, then had to use my orange primer on it.I put wax on the car but it was so orange-peeled I couldn't get the wax off. This is the taillight lens that fell off. As you can see, I haven't glued it yet.And of coarse the missing trim. Quote Selected

paint on my car Reply #4 – September 01, 2009, 05:29:09 PM The car only has 90,000 mi on it and it was parked a long time. The paint you see on it is a very bad later spray job. The original color was the med canyon red, I think. Quote Selected
paint on my car Reply #5 – September 01, 2009, 05:36:34 PM No harm meant. You should have seen how my cat rolled into (rather dragged onto) my property. Bashed in quarter, blown out wheel. Trunk smashed into. Non-running. 2 gears out of 4 in the auto. Sun faded peeling paint. Embrace the challenge! Quote Selected
paint on my car Reply #6 – September 01, 2009, 05:44:32 PM I'm looking forward to seeing the faces of my nay-sayers once she's shiny again. I'm happy the car is running so well now that I replaced my timing and fan belts. Quote Selected
