Air/Fuel guage help

Ok guys and girls,  Maybe someone on here has ran into this problem. I'm trying to install my air/fuel guage and its kicking my a$$. Does anyone or has anyone put one of these in an 85 with a cfi 302? Please any help would be great. Oh and i have a single 1 wire o2 sensor. Thanks guys

So you bought yourself an Air/fuel ratio gague. Koo I'm running a cheapy one on my 84 turbo coupe. Nothing to it. What you need to find is Witch pin/s on the ECM/ECU/PCM is for the O2 sensor/s. Then just tap into that with one of those "Scotch-LOC" connectors they tap into the one wire and ties both wire together. You would need to do this for both o2 sensors if your car has 2 or if the gauge is made for dual input. Most even come with a special connector to hook both sides of the gauge up if you only have one sensor.  Then run that/those wire/s to the gauge along with power and ground and your in business. Nothing to it. Sounds a lot more complex than it is.

i tried that according to my haynes book its pin 29 but im getting the same reading one bar lights up all the time and sometimes when im driving another might flicker on but thats it.

Sounds like its hooked up right then. Maybe you o2 sensor is toast or it isn't the right voltage for the gauge you got. Most of the Air/fuel gauges I've seen work with o2 sensors that work from 0-1v. Check the rating on the gauge you got. I do believe that those single wire o2's are in that 0-1v range. Also how long did you run the car with the one wire style you have to wait until the o2 sensor is fully warmed up to get a reading that is near correct. That is why the 4wire units use a heater to warm them up and get them reading correctly faster. So if you didn't run it for long take a nice long drive and report back.

Well its still the factory o2 from 85 and ive driven it the last 2 days and got nothing

how would i go about checking the voltage on the sensor

Find out the brand of the sensor and contact them. Or if the parts store people are nice they can look it up.

Well i found out it was my sensor. I guess the older couple that owned the car never had it changed since it only had 74000 on the clock when i bought her.guage works great now. thanks
