1988 Cougar XR-7 July 03, 2009, 10:51:58 PM Hi All, I have a 1988 XR-7 that I have had for some time, and although I hate to get rid of it, I have to many cars. She is Black with a gray interior, with no rot. She could use a paint job as some of the work I did some ten years ago is pealing. There is also some surface rust spots, but not thru. I think these are from chips not touched up.She is a 302, auto, all stock and loaded. The car has 140 on the clock, but the motor was replaced and the trans rebuilt at 60,000 due to a Ford recall. I also just replaced the tires, the valve cover gaskets and heater core. Boy was that fun! She has power dr seat, keyless entry, auto lights, auto dimmers, the better stereo with EQ and more.I am asking $1500 or best offer and is located in CT.I would love to see this car go to a good home. 1988 Cougar XR-7 Reply #3 – July 05, 2009, 11:47:27 PM Has that car been sitting a lot?A bunch of surface rust all over parts under the hood. Just curios about the ford recall that got you a new trans/motor as well. What TSB number was that? Quote Selected
1988 Cougar XR-7 Reply #4 – July 06, 2009, 12:20:36 AM HI, The car has been sitting for almost a year, but she starts up every time. As to the recall, I was told of this by the 2nd owner as he was the service writer at the local Mercury dealership. He told me that the car was being traided in and it was too nice, so he purchaced it for him self. He then put in for the recall on the motor even though there was nothing wrong. He told me Ford sent out a new 302. wile the motor was out, he had the trans done. The car only had 60k on it at that time. I have had others tell me the same thing about their 88 302 and a recall.Sadly I do not know anymore about it.ThanksKen Quote Selected

1988 Cougar XR-7 Reply #10 – July 08, 2009, 01:48:14 PM SOUTH jersey...his father has a bad back and wouldn't be able to take that long of a trip. That plus driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle that far is pretty dicey. Quote Selected
1988 Cougar XR-7 Reply #11 – July 14, 2009, 09:28:33 AM HI All, well thanks for all the interest, but sadly the car was sold yesterday. I hated to see it go, but he will be able to give it the time I could not. I am going to give him the adddress to this site though.Ken Quote Selected
