I would only purchase it to part it out (assuming the interior is unmolested). Poor 4-eyes... :(I agree 100% use it for parts and for selling parts. I wouldn't go pouring money into it. As for the car I would offer $150 and just part it out. Quote Selected
Sooo,.. i might get a sport,.....car is gone,.... Reply #18 – June 18, 2009, 11:23:57 PM why part it out? I started with a worse platform than that and look what I ended up with... the car wouldnt need much to be complete again. and for $200 its not a bad car minus the parts it needs Quote Selected
Sooo,.. i might get a sport,.....car is gone,.... Reply #19 – June 18, 2009, 11:27:28 PM It looks like it would be worth $200 depending on how it runs. If it runs.Obviously we cant tell you what to do but look it over good and scope out all the "good" parts you can use then see if its worth it. Quote Selected

Sooo,.. i might get a sport,.....car is gone,.... Reply #24 – June 19, 2009, 09:59:02 AM Slow down man, let me just lay this out for you. If you were to part it out you can make your money back AND more . The car itself doesn't look horrible (I think mine is in worse shape) but there are parts missing that would require more money. You already have your Cougar which appears to be in pretty good shape for a car from the 87-88 range from a state that recieves snow. I would take out the motor and tranny and rebuild the motor how you would want it WHILE you can drive your Cougar. That way after your motor is built your way you can throw it in and have an extra 5.0 sitting on the wayside :D. Not to mention an extra trans seeing as the AOD seems to be kind of a weak point on these cars. I'd hate to see you have a problem with the long arm of the law again like you did before with this car. Just my .02. Quote Selected

It doesn't really fit the general criteria of a winter beater. This is a car that you are pretty passionate about. Winter beaters are throw-away cars. You drive them until they break and then you get another one. I don't think very many people on this forum actually have another fox thundercat as their winter beaters. You said you have a storage issue. Where are you going to put if it is indeed a driver? You said you are looking for a job. Where are you going to get the money from to make the initial purchase? Where are you going to get the money to put into to this car to make it road ready? FYI, these aren't questions I want answers to, just trying to help you make a wise decision. I am in a similar situation as well (thanks Chuck!). Making repairs to someone else's "repairs" or in this case (judging from the photos) "experiments" isn't difficult -- albeit frustrating and it can get costly. These cars are cheap to repair but they can nickel and dime you to death. I'd hate to see you put all the time and money into this car only to find out later down the road that it wasn't worth it and then you have part it out because no one will buy it whole. And unless you are the greatest salesman ever you will not get anywhere close to breaking even. Happens quite often. Happened to me. Twice. :DIf you are looking for a beater I would strongly suggest getting something else. Basically something you know very little about and don't care about learning about. Get something you hate. lol. Good Luck! Quote Selected
