Interesting..I've seen sites like this before and figured they could be helpful for those hard to find parts.

My concern would be the condition of the part they send. Most junkyards I've been too only care about making the sale, they don't care about what shape something is in. One time I wanted to buy a busted up grille just to experiment with but they said $15 for a grille, any grille regardless of condition.  I told them it would just get crushed but they didn't care.

Imagine the same place sending you a part.... "Hey, it's a mirror, you wanted a mirror, so the chrome is peeling and two studs are missing"

Don't get me started on junkyards...I'll never go back to the one that charged me $9 for 'carpet' which was a torn up floor mat I used to carry a greasy part...Harry's..this is for you! :flip:

Dealing with them remotely could be even more interesting!

Did you eventually buy parts you found this way, if so what did you buy and were you satisfied?

well I went to visit a dude today cuz he is the 2.3 guru in the panhandle. Well the guy has some amazing stuff. I swear he has at least 30 2.3 turbo cores lying around and enough parts to put 10 full cars back together. He even has a carb'd 2.3 turbo from a 79  Mustang or something...I wasnt paying close attention at that point  I stopped counting after 20 of the big VAM's.  He has 3 cars with full, nice raven interiors he said i could have for $100 each...that is everything from package tray to headliner to the dash. I never seen anything like it. He said he has parted over 30 turbo cars over the years and even has an 85 or so turbo cougar. I will get some pics cuz it's unbelievable. The thing is he is dead smack in the middle of a bad crack neighborhood, I am talking straight up compton style. The wife was freaking out.:D

Late summer junkyard run... disappointing again.

I don't know about anyone else but I think the days of finding much good 83-87 stuff in the yards are gone. If you find anything you better grab it. I guess it makes sense, these cars are 22+ years old!  Seems like most of the cars were around 1996 to 2001. Some older, some newer.

Saw a XJ6 Jag 'clunker'. Nice body panels but the interior was completely gutted.

There is a 'vintage' section so I had fun digging through that. Things are really picked hard on those cars but I found an original  FoMoCo script headlight from a 65 TBird and it still works!!! That was my find of the day...

If you hit a junkyard this summer, give us a junkyard report! :D

There is a yard here that had quite a few fox bird and cougars until s prices went nuts! Then they crushed them! I haven't been there for a couple of months so I'm going to have to see if they're restocking or not.

Went to the local junkyard this last Monday.  All the foxes were gone except for the one '89 Mustang vert I4.  But I did find this:

I'm guessing at least one, if not two rollovers on that odo, though.  No way that car has only 3600 miles on it.  Several indicators.  Check the tires to see if all four are same brand/size.  Look at rims if not, and see if they all match.  That thing wouldn't even have had one oil change, certainly not more than one with that kinda mileage on it.  No way to know how many rollovers on that odo.  Engine does look clean, but your local spray wash can do that.  That simply indicates someone took good care of it.  Certainly looks like a good block to work with.

Some grandma had it kept all these years, and then gave it to her grandson, who, within a week, got in a fender bender on the driver side, and didn't want it anymore.  So the local JY guy came and drove it away.  We're a small town, so driving anywhere can be avoided.  Heck my grandma never had a license....didn't need one.  I can't say if it's rolled or not, but it looks so clean...heck, there's no flaws at all in the interior.  And it has all 4 hubcaps in place.
