1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #225 – February 25, 2011, 06:40:38 PM I usually have a pretty 'easy' job. Today's weather really kicked my butt mentally. I don't even feel like working on the car. I got to the point today where I just didn't want to have to make another big decision. Managing a 15 million dollar asset can be a bitch! Especially with the pressure of toting the top execs on a py day, telling them they can't do what they want to do.BUT, I wouldn't love to fly after 25 years if it was always easy. And, it's nice to get the pat on the back at the end of the day from the Chairman and my boss, telling me he knows I did all I could do.Yeah. I like to make the hard decisions. Quote Selected

1988 TC single Holset turbo 5.0/ 4R70W Reply #227 – February 26, 2011, 06:34:09 PM Tried and tried to get the intercooler silicone to fit today. No way it would work without modding the intercooler or turbo cover. SOOOO, I moved the intercooler forward again to allow me an extra coupling to get it plumbed. Now I just have to modify the cover brace and make new intercooler mounts and I think it'll work out. Third time is the charm! Quote Selected

The 5.0 blocks split around 500, so I'm shooting for 400-450. Sure, I'd take you for a spin if you want to. The turbo TR7 is a hoot, too. I already gave up ride control, I'm not giving up on A/C. Quote from: Bruce M;354097There is nothing cooler than blowing the doors off some chevy with the A/C on.This should be a 'sleeper'. They won't know what just happened. :) Beaten up by a Granpa car.I just priced out the paint recently. Looks like to get enough base/clear in the factory silver, plus hardeners, reducers, and such will be around $400.00. I could save $100.00 if I went with a generic silver, but I'd rather stay stock. Check out the carnage sometime over at Turboforums.I'm just gonna stay conservative on this one until I can build an aluminum head 351. Then maybe go a little crazy. Quote Selected

He's shooting for about 750+ HP. Oh and it's going in a Lighting. You turbo guys are crazy! Quote Selected

Back-paint it black and mask off the oval where the shift indicator is (so it shows through). Have a slot cut for the shift lever, and do the brush thing mentioned above (or rubber flaps). You would end up with a black shiny plate that has the shift indicator shining through. Kinda like this, and put the brushes in the shifter slot: You know, the more I think about it the more I like this idea. If I just attach a light to the shift handle along with a red pointer, and mark the places where each detent rests, I could end up with a pretty nice looking plate that can be sized to fit the console pretty well.Woohoo!>5,000 views! Now I have to finish it.
