straight pipes April 16, 2009, 02:20:17 AM my Bird currently has the cats gutted and the ler replaced with a piece of sraight pipe.i'm wanting to redo the exhaust, and am considering 2.25" or 2.5" dual straight pipes with an h-pipe (or maybe an x-pipe) and was wondering if it would be obnoxiously loud? if it were just me that rides in it i wouldn't care, BUT, i have a 7 week old son to worry about. straight pipes Reply #1 – April 16, 2009, 03:06:33 AM Straight pipes = LOUDYoull have to put some kind of lers on there if you want it to be tolerable. Quote Selected
straight pipes Reply #2 – April 16, 2009, 11:38:06 AM Straight pipes will be stupid loud with a true dual exhaust, headers, and a H or X pipe. Hell my set up (Headers, 2.5" dual exhaust, H-pipe, and Flow Tech Afterburner lers) is stupid loud on the street. It sets off car alarms :hick: Quote Selected

straight pipes Reply #4 – April 16, 2009, 11:53:34 AM I've got straight pipes on mine...or I guess I should say "a straight pipe",But I haven't removed all the cats. It sounds pretty good and it gives it a kind of subliminal growl, especially for a V-6. Quote Selected
straight pipes Reply #5 – April 16, 2009, 05:22:16 PM I never have liked straight pipes.I always thought they sounded "cheap" (for lack of a better word). Quote Selected

straight pipes Reply #12 – April 21, 2009, 06:03:54 PM or you could do what I'm doing. lol(each side) no cats, just straight from the headers through a slight bend, into a glasspack, and another slight bend coming right out the side, between the door and back wheel. lol That ought'a make the neighbors happy!!! lol Quote Selected

straight pipes Reply #14 – April 21, 2009, 08:44:25 PM Dougy a low radio volume overpowers the duals at roads speeds. Just not during hard takeoffs ,burnouts,or passing slow people. Quote Selected
