Being Canadian April 11, 2009, 08:13:11 AM More people should speak up to these "new Canadians" that complain about our country!!!! A good replyThis is one of the better email's that I have ever read on thissubject and I had to pass it on!One of my sons serves in the military, he is stationed inOntario , Canada . He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were tohim and his troops everywhere they go.telling me how people shake their hands and thank themfor being willing to serve and fight, not only our ownfreedoms but so that others may have them too. Then he told me about an incident in the grocery storehe stopped at yesterday, on his way home from thebase. He said that several people were in the lineahead of him, including a woman dressed in a Burkha. He said when she got to the cashier, she made a loudremark about the Canadian Flag, lapel pin, the cashierwore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touchedthe pin and said,"Yes, I always wear it proudly, because I'm a Canadian."The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier whenshe was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi. Then, a Gentleman standing behind my son steppedforward, putting his arm around my son's shoulders andnodding towards my son, said in a calm and gentlevoice to the Iraqi woman: " Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken inYOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out soloudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq , so you can straighten out the Mess in YOUR country, that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid."Everyone within hearing distance cheered! I think people may be tired of some of the antics of our government but in the end you have to realize how lucky we are. I'm glad I was born an American and don't live in Mexico or Africa or something. Quote Selected

I'm just a big worry wart. I think the biggest problem is people want a quick fix to the worlds economic problem and its not here yet. Patience is a virtue.Shame on me for jumping to conclusions Quote Selected
Being Canadian Reply #5 – April 11, 2009, 09:04:50 AM That email is identical to one that mentions US instead of Canada, and considering that Canada is not even involved in the Iraq war I'd guess the US version came first. Perhaps whoever edited Canada into it should have swapped Iraq for Afganistan. I've got a brother in the military, so I get emails like this all the time... Quote Selected

They come over here to our countries expecting us to change our ways and our heritages for them, and adopt there religions Etc.... F that! Asimilate or GET THE F out of our country is my feelings.:hick:If your country and religion and lifestyle was so good, then why are you here??!?! Quote Selected
Being Canadian Reply #7 – April 11, 2009, 09:39:03 AM I haven't forgotten where I'm from and I'm proud to admit it! PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! The Biggest problem is that most every person thinks that uncle sam is supposed to step in and fix it and make it all better. All that and without anyone loosing much or having to change the way that they do things. So the lesson won't be learned and we are being setup for this to happen again. Think about it $20 used to be worth $20 in gold now what is our money backed by and I can go trade it for that where? You can't really do that any more. So what is really going on is the evening up of the the value of the different currencies between the nations on the North American continent. So the new money can roll out because the Current Dollars will be worth very little compared to what it once was worth. Why does that quart of oil still cost more even though all oil prices have come down? That is because we don't buy oil with dollars anymore we have to exchange our dollars for something else then buy oil with that. Quote Selected
Being Canadian Reply #8 – April 11, 2009, 09:54:54 AM My great-grandfather came to the U.S. in the early 1900's, and in order to speed up his citizenship, he joined the army and serve in WWI. He did this to become an American. Had he came to Canada, I'm sure he would have done the same thing. I would like to think that I would have done the same thing if I was in that same situation. It used to be you emigrated to a country to become part of that country. Now-a-days, it seems people are emigrating to a country, yet still wanting it to be like their old country, but enjoy the material things the new country has to offer. Speaking a foreign language in the U.S. is an example, albeit an extreme, but still an example nonetheless. That's what the email reminds me of. Now back to your regular programming. Quote Selected
