So I'm Sad :(

Turns out I managed to get one of the few 5.0 T-Birds without a locker rear end.

So I'm Sad :(

Too bad you're not closer, I know of a nice TC axle.

There are plenty that came with the 5.0 and an open diff.  A locker is most likely more rare....

Theres a guy out here in Vegas who is parting out a 87 TC and wants 150 for the rearend.  I think its an auto car, so it should have a TL with 3.73s

Don't feel bad. Mine doesn't have TL and I can't find one TC around my area either.

So far I've only spun wheels in the dirt and on cement so far. Always leaves two nice black marks though.

ONLY the '87-'88 Sport and TC had the Traction Lock as std, was optional as was the 5.0 on Base & LX models... Very few of those would have had a Traction Lock differential...

I'm talking about just givin' it some gas, not brake standing. Now I'm confused. How do I tell whether I have TL (besides the door tag)?

Jack up the back of the car, spin one wheel by hand and see which direction the opposite wheel spins.

Same direction = trac loc

Can I just straight in swap the assemblies if I find a 7.5 or 8.8 locker?

Yes sir!. Mustang rears will also mount up, as well as Mark VII. Mustang will be narrower, Mark VII wider.

Eric did a great job putting together the site. Helps all of us at one point or another. I use it almost everytime I do a project on my car. Plus it helps owners find the forum. Which some of the thanks for the forum can go to him too!
