what axles will fit

Hi, was wondering what axles will interchange on thunderbirds from other fords. Are the the 83-86 same length as a stang also what about lengths on the 87-88. thanks

It'd sure be nice if someone would make up some kind of database with measurements and interchange data!

Wouldn't it though?

Short answer: 83 to 85 are same length as Mustang. 86 to 88 are longer and are unique to T-Bird and Cougar.

its 85 1/2 to 88. also marks were the same as mustang length before 851/2 as well.

5.0 HO 306 roller block, machined GT-40P heads, Wiseco dished forged pistons, Eagle forged floating I-beam connecting rods, Lunati pushrods, ARP bolts, Scorpion aluminum 1.6 rockers, Comp Cams Magnum 266HR, Explorer intake, 65mm TB, MAF Conversion, 19# injectors, Ford Racing stainless P-headers, 2-1/2" cat-less exhaust w/ Flowtech Afterburner lers , SC AOD with 2800 BDR torque converter, 3.73 T-Lok rear, CHE rear control arms, full 2-1/2" frame w/1" jacking rails & seat supports, Rear disk brakes, Turbine wheels, All original interior w/ floor shift upgrade .......
Pretty much every panel on my 87 is new, rebuilt, or re constructed. :D

It would be nice if the OP was SPECIFIC about what he was asking.

AXLES and AXLE HOUSINGS are two different things...

ALL of the 80-88 Tbird axle housings are the same width as the 79-98 Mustang ones, save for the 86-88 TBird 7.5's which are wider.  All of this is covered in 2-3 threads and one even has a handy chart that shows all the dimensions...

Maybe if we put flashing lights and promises of candy on the stickies they might get read...

i htough mark axles fit???  But isnt it easier to go mustang rear for five lug? With our axles needing custom shafts??
