Reply #3 – February 21, 2009, 09:52:10 AM As a Bandaid I installed one on the '93 Grand Marquis AODE back in '98 when the transmission was slipping on the 1-2 shift(it only had 33K mi but was out of it's 3/36 warranty) ... Fixed it right up, didn't slip a bit and had a nice "thump" to the shifts... Only issue is it also gives hard down shifts... I cured that by putting a switch on the throttle body, which opened the circuit to the Shift Improver on closed throttle... The transmission lasted till about a year and a half ago, when it blew the front pump to housing gasket and began puking fluid at 131K mi... Quote Selected

Installed it, and it is F***ing awesome! i took the car for a *test drive*:burnout: afterwards, and from about a 30 mph start on the on-ramp to the highway, hit 75 in about 2 and a half seconds. It does, as Turbocoupe50 said before, have hard downshifts. I wish they made these for an AOD! Quote Selected

Selecting 1 gives you a more firm upshift than stock and seems to shift a little higher in the rpm range, and selecting 2 takes it a bit further with the quick shifting and almost redlines in 1st and 2nd before it shifts ( on the package it said #2 was for racing and off - road purposes only), and you can also switch it back to normal mode. It was really worth the money, and performs better than i figured it would. Quote Selected
