speedo gear replacement Reply #1 – February 12, 2009, 09:45:52 AM Disconnect Plug, Remove bolt, Pull sender, Remove Pin, Swap Gear, then reinstall Pin, Sender, Bolt, and Plug. I know that some AODs have different # of teeth on the output shaft, that would be the only thing to look out for I think.http://www.sccoa.com/faq/speedgr.html Quote Selected
speedo gear replacement Reply #2 – February 12, 2009, 09:53:39 PM So if I find the donor Cougar with 3.27, I should take the gear with the ring and pinion. I think I read, not sure of year, some AOD V6 with the 7.5 rear, could have 3.27.Any input? Quote Selected
speedo gear replacement Reply #3 – February 13, 2009, 10:01:48 AM For an 8.8:327s can be had from AOD Supercoupes.308s from V8 MN12 BirdsFor a 7.5:I think the 273 was the most common in the fox. http://www.coolcats.net/tech/general/axleinfo.htmlRangers and Aerostars also go 7.5s and would probably have steeper gears. Check the Tag.My 273s with my T5 has some punch. But i haven't had it on the freeway yet. Quote Selected

speedo gear replacement Reply #11 – February 18, 2009, 04:23:24 PM If you run a 3.73 with your stock AOD (8 tooth drive gear) you need a 23 tooth driven gear to make the speedo correct. Mustangs Unlimited sells one for automatic transmission cars. Quote Selected
