83 to 86 driver inner axle? December 02, 2008, 06:28:47 PM when following my son in his 1986 turbo-bird. i notice the passenger wheel was not running true. so checking it out and found it had bent axle . i thought. no problem,i have a spare in the shop to replace it with.well after pulling his out ,i went looking for the spare. after 2 weeks looking ,i give up:mad: . do any one of you have axtra one for 1983 to 86thunderbird/cougar 7.5 on the paasenger side? The only way to be sure is to measure.See the chart in this post HERE The overall axle length will be the same, but the distance to the bearing race is the issue. Quote Selected

Reply #10 – December 05, 2008, 08:33:13 AM Works for me.The axle end to bearing race distances are as follows:83-85 25.75" to 27.19"86-88 26.63 to 28.38"The 86-88 7.5 axle housing is wider by approx 3/4" per side, thus the bearings are in a different spot on the axles.
