For those of you with an 87 V8

I'm looking for a photo or two of the sticker on the radiator shroud. I am particularly interesed in the vacuum diagram on the right side, but clear digital picture of each would be great.

I cant read the part number on it, and I doubt that they would still be availible, there are a lot of nice cars on here, I'm sure one of you has a sticker in good shape.

Also a picture of the belt routing from the radiator support would be great!

Feel free to email them to JPC647@charter.net

Thank you guys!

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Because nothing I posted could possibly help him at all, and your post really added and helps him solve his problem.

Now does anyone know if any company makes a belt that elimintates the ac? I know on my sticker if showd the routing for a belt "less ac". Were the 5.0's availible in 87 without an AC option? If thats true, I would love one of those belts to simply eliminate my ac compressor. Anyone know the brands?

I've called CAP, Napa, and Autozone, and none have a listing for an 87-88 without an AC? How does the Ford AC eliminator part work? How does the power steering pump bolt where the AC was?

The v-8's all had ac stardard. I dont see how you could eliminate the ac and still have power steering unless you litterly elimintae it.

To use any of the A/C eliminator kits on the market, you'd have to also use a fox Mustang power steering bracket as the eliminator kits will not work with the Cougarbird brackets.  I'm partial to the Ford kit as it actually was a factory option in '85 or '86 and looks the cleanest as it does not replace the A/C pulley with an idler, it deletes it altogether.

I've never seen one like that one in color.....Here's one 88 5.0 HO specific.  Differences, if any, will be minor (elec. wire colors)

You mean the belt that simply bypasses the condensor? There are 2 availible at the local parts store, I wasn't sure if it was oging to simply delete the ac or require a idler.

If you delete the A/C you'll have to move the power steering pump with the Ford kit, replace the A/C pulley with another kit, or run without power steering.  You can't just slip on a belt and bypass the A/C and attempt to run the power steering with it in the stock location while doing no other action.

you need to learn about belt part numbers.  next time your in a parts store, ask them how the part number works.  You will learn how to just look at the belt and determine if it will work for your car.

another thing you have to learn,,,, belt makers do not make a belt for a car,, the belt is simply made and the car happens to fit in it.  Belt makers make a variety of belts based on many things but one specific car is not a reason to make a belt.  My coug belt may be find for another car but since I short belted , my new belt is simply a qty of ribs, and length.

So you can put the power steering where the ac is? How does it bolt up? Is there a seperate mounting bracket? Will the power steering line I already have reach or will I have to change the line? I definately want the power steering.
