Slopoke pics

I've been away from the board awhile and haven't worked on Slopoke much for about a year. Some of you may remember the pitiful times it ran last year(hence the Slopoke nickname from a "friend":rollin:) Something has to change before '08 is gone for good. While many of you may think Slopoke is a pos, remember it is a work in progress. I'll post progress pics here and in the related categories. It is good to be back running again:D

Without a doubt, but it has to go in smaller steps this time. Exhaust will be next. The supercharger will go back on, but only after it's running better n/a. The speed density seems to hate even the stock cam @-4 deg. BBK's web site throttle body set proceedure seems a bit odd to me. If set to their specs, the tps will almost without question need to be made adjustable. A cam may have to wait till mass air. I can't remember exactly, were you able to run an e cam on speed density with any success?

I waited until I upgraded to Mass Air before I installed the E303.My guess is,the Speed Density will hate the E cam a lot.My automatic tranny didn't even like the cam.Actually,I believe it was because I had a stock converter, and every time I'd come to a stop ,I had to throw it in neutral or the car would die.The 5 speed loves the cam.

There was just an issue with the way the blower was installed is all ;)  Glad to see it's running better.  Oh, and welcome back!

You state your running the cam at 4 degress retard?

If that AOD shifts below 52-5300 @ WOT I'd put it back to 0*  Otherwise you're really just giving away average power.

Thanks :D
The impeller washiznitting the volute because it wasn't shimmed right and also may have had incorrect fluid and/or belt slippage issues. The fmu was dumping 80psi with maybe 3psi max boost. A cog set up with a 32/57 was going to put the blower at it's max of 40k right at 5k perfect for the old trans. That is likely out the window now unless the old trans goes back in.
I agree the cam would run better straight up and degreed as well. It is probably contributing to the poor 60'
The old trans shifted at 5k unless doing the d1d shuffle. The jury's still out on the new trans. If it indeed has the wide ratio with that stall it may go well above 5300. Apparently, Precision doesn't think highly of the "spaceship" style converters which is exactly what this piece is. If I had to do it over it would be a Precision or Dirty Dog converter. Hopefully it will work ok.

Yup, I remember that.  Never got it sorted out?

Those have nothing to do with it......The tailshaft governor controls the maximum RPM shift points @ WOT.  Line pressure can have a slight effect, but not much.

No but it may have been something as simple as putting the stupid Trick shift fluid in it instead of regular type F. There was belt material around the front of it also. The cogs wouldn't have let that happen though   Preload pressures may not have been enough on the ball drive. I've never been through that one. I just thought it was too new to go through and the guy that set it up likes to set them loose. When I first had it on the SO motor it put out 1 psi per every 1000 rpm but it made an SO like an HO. I was expecting much more, but I was told that's what they were designed to do. Then after the HO conversion and the 1st pitiful trip to the track. It looked like 3psi at 6000rpm with 80psi fuel. I put the other one on with a different fmu and it felt somewhat stronger. When I found out neither boosted fuel or air, I got more aggravated. The idle surge was g me off as well so I pulled the intake and found no evidence of leakage. I was done for a while after that untill I put the performer on. I had a feeling it would run better without the charger and fmu.

Also think you are right on about the cam, I just didn't think 4 degrees was that big a deal. It may pull 16" on a good day. I suppose if you don't degree you never know for certain how late the valves are closing. Nevertheless, I may leave that and the trans as is till next year. I hate rechecks :punchballs:

@ what RPM?

Mine pulls 14"-15" @ 850 Trick Flow stage 1 cam and TW heads.

You should be seeing more IMHO.

At idle 750-800. Do you think I should set the idle exactly as bbk states?

 Thanks for the link :D
Unfortunately it might not do the trick right away. The underdrive alternator can't seem to keep up <900rpm. The battery seems to be discharging and might also be causing erratic tps voltage.
The intake will have to come off since there is now an oil leak and the exhaust can't be done till all the oil leaks are fixed.
One hard run and stall is now a new best friend    To high torque converter stall.....
The trans shifts 1-2 at 6000+rpm. Hopefully, it stayed off the rev limiter. 2-3 was a lot lower around 5000rpm? The governor and valve body need some tweaks. Too bad Slopoke's motor can't run on the top since it wants to go. The oil leaks may be in part to running with pcv blocked off and the "WRONG STUFF" silicone. I'll never buy or use that  again ever!

If you're not running any type of crankcase ventilation, you're giving away power; lots of it @ high RPM's.....You running breathers or anything like that?

And that's why I don't run them.
