There's something you don't see everyday....

Finally got off my rump and decided it was high time to see if this Mach 1 chin spoiler was actually gonna fit a non-TC front end due to the lip.

My apologies for how filthy the car is.

Had to take about 4-5 inches off of each side due to the length.  I beveled the ends like the factory piece.  It will not look right cut straight up and down or on a straight angle.  There is too much curvature in the non-TC fenders in front of the tires.

I used all the stock bumper mount points and 6 extra spots as well.
The 2 most outer factory speed-nuts must be moved outward approximately 3/8"  It will help bring the spoiler close in to the body of the car.

NO holes need to be drilled into any metal 4 of the 6 spots are where the inner plastic fender meets the actual fender.  As there is a spped-nut on these, drilling 4 holes in the spoiler and using these mount points is a cinch. 

Now the other 2 without any speednuts.....About 3/8" aft of the plastic bumper along the bottom of the fender is a 1/4" hole on each side.  I simply matched the spoiler, drilled a hole, and ran a small zinc coated bolt through with washers on both sides and a nut on the back.  These 2 points along with the slightly moved factory speed-nuts are what closes the gap shown in the 2nd batch of pics.


Also; none of the factory holes on the Mach 1 spoiler line up with the T-bird/Cougar bumper holes.  There's a lot of holes in the spoiler underside now, but I think she looks good.

I had debated making a wedge cut on each side of the spoiler and re-gluing ot together to reduce the slight bulging at the corners, but I am apprehensive.  It would be difficult to get the proper finish without painting it...

i might need to ask this somewhere else, but i got the stock chin spoiler and mine is sed all to hell.  my front end never bottoms out but my chin cpoiler use does se.  gotta drive your car with this chin spoiler a bit easier (around town etc)

It did look a little high to me. I think it might have looked better infront of the one that is attached to the bumper already, I dont knoe though. Still looks good though

I'd thought about that actually, but didn't do it for 2 reasons.....

1.  Functionality -- Placing the new one too far forward could have possibly compromised the added effect this one should have over the stock piece it replaces.

2.  Mounting issues -- not exactly a lot of room to mount this in front of the actual bumper lip.  Screwing straight into the lip would look -- well....stupid.  Using an adhesive would be troublesome in the event of maintenence or an unforseen event wherin the spoiler gets damaged/cracked.

I think I have a solution to get that bulge down a bit, but I'm gonna wait a week or so before I try it.

I figured there would be a problem with it. I do like the way you rounded the ends off.

Would the fit be similar on a LX style T-bird bumper cover?

i have an nos XR7 deflector but havent put it on because
of how low it is and the sing issues. whats the part #
