So does anyone else have a complete brain fart while working on your car? Since adding the TC hood to my car years ago, one of the scoops hashiznit on the A/C bracket on my 5.0. It had not caused any problems until this summer when it finally took a big chunk out of the scoop. Anyway, I decided to use the trusty old grinder and do a little shaving on the bracket. I took my sweet time and used some old rugs, covering the whole engine compartment and also sheets over the fenders. I then ground just enough to make it clear the scoop. A little black paint and you can't tell I ever messed with it. Cool, didn't have to even remove it that was easy!

Problem is even after all that care I took to cover everything I totally forgot about the windshield! Apparently hot sparks from a grinding wheel totally mess up car windshields:punchballs: . I now have little "specks" over about 1/4 of my windshield. DA*N IT!! I'm a stickler for clean windshields so having a constant (and permanent) reminder of my mistake will not work!!!

Anyone know of any remedies to this (or want to make me feel better with a story equally as dumb)? Surely I'm not the first person to do this...but I think the damage is definately done. Good thing is the car is going in for paint in Oct. so worse comes to worst I could get a new windshield at that point.

haha ha Funny lol.. That sux lol...

I guess my most stupid story with my car would be when I went down the ramps to fast, forgetting I was on ramps, and hit the fender into the ramp making a tiny dent :S...

The worst thing I've ever done (about 18 years ago with my fist Bird),was back out of the garage with the driver door slightly opened and catching it on the wall.,Bent window frame.New door. !!!Oh well,lessons learned,right?

I punched the windshield in my old TC and spidered it pretty bad.

They do have some polishes and compounds for glass that might help.

Dont want to be the bearer of bad news but wait till it rains and you get rust. Years ago I had a door skin replaced on a car and the shop tried to shortcut things and didnt cover the window. Went to pick up the car and saw the glass was rusty. They had to replace the glass.

Wow...that was dumb.

i had ses on my windshield on my rx8, i found that polishing compound took it out. try it on a small section at the bottom of the windshield as this is a completely different manufacturer and different era of car, but it took out the scratches almost immediately

Gee thanks...lol. This is usually how it goes on the car. Get one thing fixed only to f-up something else...ITS NEVER ENDING! lol.

I had a dumb one a few years ago. In my driveway, which has a small hill, I had a Lincoln Navigator and in front of that a F350 Crewcab Dually 4x4. I needed to lube the 2 piece driveshaft on the dually. Got underneath, took the caps off the u-joint and couldn't get it out of the yoke. Big prybar, still tight. One big pull and I figured out why it was so tight....no e-brake. The truck rolled back into the Navigator. The hitch did some damage to it, but I'm lucky it was there as the front axle or tire would have crushed me. I only had some rash on my arms. I guess this is what happens when you rush.

I was leaving a gas station where there's a rather steep hill that goes onto the street. I sed one of my exhaust tips on it causing a flat spot on the bottom of it. My favorite cosmetic part of the car, no less! Got it pretty much fixed now though; it's barely noticeable.

dang thundr! that's a scary one. glad that navi was there! Rushing is definitely our enemy, I am constantly screwing up cause I want it done NOW! :hick:
