get an explorer intake. You'll need to get the right sized egr/throttle body too. if your distributor looks okay, I would get a cap and rotor just incase. You may want a differnt cam, but the mn-12 one would probably work okay.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I already have a fox mustang stock HO intake I got for cheap.  I figure I can always upgrade to explorer/gt40 later on.  How is the MN12 cam different from any other HO cam?

I would return that smog pump delete. Extra pulley you dont need. Just get a shorter belt, its cheaper.

I thought about it but really want to be able to walk into the parts store and just order a standard belt without having to get a parts guy to understand what I am doing.

I like the piece of mind of walking into a store 100 mi from home and getting a belt...plus its only $50.  I just put a new belt on not that long ago so at $25 a belt x 2 I was better off just buying a delete pulley.  Trust me I am the master of being a tight ass. D

LOL. Me too, most of the time. When I have the money though I just want to buy when I find what I need. Holding out usually pays off. I dont think you will see much drag from the pull or loss anyways. Sounds like everything is coming along nice so far.

Just another update.

I now have the donor motor basically torn down to the heads.  I now need to pull the heads and cam.  Seems I am making pretty slow progress...

I ordered a bbk catless h-pipe from Summit to go along with the headers (by the way I was less than impressed by the quality of the bbk 1515 headers...I thought they were kinda junky looking).

So basically I have a trunk full of parts ready to be installed!  I have a friend who is going to help me do the HO conversion over easter weekend...can't wait!!

Will an H (or X) pipe installed AFTER the cats be as effective as one installed beforehand?

EDIT: Sorry thread hijack.

The bird I have already has true duals with the cats installed, and I'm looking to save money.

The pipes we are talking about are from headers down to flowtubes. Sounds like you are referring to just the cross over itself. No cats would benefit the most. Usually the H or X is after the cats.

Should I go junkyard diving for a set of mustang pipes?  In my county, Cats are required to be street legal.
