T-5 wiring question (Kitz, don't kill me)....

I need a detailed explanation on wiring up the T-5 and which switch is which on the T-5 (There are two of them).Which is for the backup lights, which is the neutral safety switch?Kitz told me,and I had it in my book, which is now somewhere other than with me.I need the details for the wiring. As of this post,I should be installing the 5 speed next Saturday.I'm getting anxious to grab the Pistol Grip !!!! (It's my pistol grip and I can grab if I want).

It's an easy swap without the harness...the colors match right up.

Do you mean the colors from the AOD harness?Do I just cut the plug off of the AOD harness and match the wires to the two plugs on the 5 speed?

You don't need a transmission harness, and I'm not sure that a Mustang harness will plug into a Bird. Here's the AOD connector from my car. It has 4 wires in it. 2 are for backup lights and 2 are for the neutral safety switch. The connector has to be cut off and the wires spliced into the harnesses on the transmission. I would recommend using snap connectors so that the wires don't have to be cut for clutch jobs etc.

It really is just that easy...when I did my swap last week my buddy wired it up while I dumped the tranny fluid in from the top...he was done before me...lol.

I know this is old but good job with that picture 5.0 bird! It really helped alot because I was having trouble reading the scan of the EVTM that Scott posted and I don't have a battery yet so trial and error was out too... lol

I'm glad to see this info helping people out. There's been a bunch of people that have used that article as a reference since I posted it up over a year ago. It's also a reference for me in the event that I do another swap. I tried to document the whole swap as much as possible. I think when I did the wiring it was part trial and error, and part EVTM. Well mostly trial and error, but it works just like it should. :hick: back up lights come on, and it won't start unless you throw it in neutral. If you have a trans without a neutral switch then you would either have to bypass it altogether or wire up the clutch pedal switch.
