header panel and front bumper removal

hey, how do you remove the front bumper and header panel?
88 sport 308 e-303, ported e7's, cobra intake, cold air, under drive pulleys, full exhaust, t5, 373's, smog pump removed, 255 pump, pressure regulator.

I'm looking at some photos of the front end of my 87 Bird that I took when putting my engine in.

This is a rough run through of the first few steps. Please, anyone who notices mistakes in this let me know.  I'm doing this from memory.

Pop the hood and start by taking out the headlights. That should show some bolts going down into the bumper. These come out.

Look at where the header panel meets the fenders.  Feel in there for the bolts. There's a few on each side - I think there's 8 on each. For the header though there's 4 on each I think. (4 for the header and then another 4 for the bumper to fender connection.)

You'll also have to remove the bolt that attaches the hood latch support brace to the header panel. That hood latch support brace is bolted in - that comes off by removing both bolts - one at the top, one at the bottom.

With all of that done, the header panel should come out straight.  (I don't know what year or front end you have on your car.)  Have some saw horses ready to rest it on.

the bumper u'll find a few more screws. they are made from a plastic material if i remember correctly, im drawing a blank right now. It wasn't really that hard to put it together, just like a puzzle. And if u pull it out, and it wont come, search for some more screws. :)

MAKE SURE U LABEL EVERYTHING. Keep it organized. Take ur time. like said above have saw horses ready to rest stuff on.

There should be a few screws or bolts on the bottom of the bumper as well. Looks behind that black piece on the bottom of the bumper it should bolt in to the radiator support.

Also, if you're dealing with the turbo coupe bumper, you'll need to remove the front fender moldings (these bolt on, there should be 2 bolts for each molding) and the screws where the bumper wraps around the front of the wheel well.

If you let us know what car it is, we can give you more specifics. I think I take the nose off of my car at least yearly... same with my interior, I'm just picky

Well, what im tryin to do is remove my header panel and bumper of my sport and convert it to a tc.

You need the turbo coupe specific moldings that I was referring to removing. They're different from the stock sport ones, trust me. The swap is easy.

I'm actually going back to my sport bumper again, I prefer it to the turbo coupe one, but got stuck with the turbo coupe bumper cover after a minor accident.

I had the TC header panel on for ages, but swapped it out for my stock 87 LX panel.
