Fuel pump and level sender removal; what ring?

I'm trying to remove my fuel pump and level senders but everything is covered in rust (surface, nothing goes through) and I can't get the rings on the senders to break loose.  Not sure if I'm hitting the right one though.  There is an inner ring with 3-4 small raised tabs (1/2" long) and an outer ring that is the opposite (raised ring with 3-4 1/2" openings in it where you can hit it to loosen).  Which one?  and yes, i've got a bunch of PB on them.

I got as much off as I can...  wire brushes are packed for moving.  but I'm afraid it's beyond repair.  I figured out which tabs to hit based on my new level sender but if I hit the tabs they just start tearing off.  after a few hits they have completely sheared off.  I've got a butt load of PB sitting on top but these things are SO fused idk if they will come loose!

ok, got it...  took a LONG time but finally, with some very light prying I broke the rust bond and eventually got them both out...
