Center console/floor e-brake installed

Just finished up.  I know there are probably quite a few flaws in my design, but I'm new to any type of fabrication/welding and I had to have my parking brake working by the end of the weekend.  So here's what I ended up with  :D  Oh, and there was very little room between the floor and driveshaft to work with (about 1.75" or less).  Hope it's works out with suspension travel!!

I welcomed the dark side and currently am driving a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT plus, with a 5.9, Code named project "Night Runner"
Shes black on black, fully loaded, with headers, 180 tstat, e fan, straight exhaust into a cherry bomb vortex ler, full tune up, ported intake and T/B, MSD coil, and round aircleaner.
Mods to come: Fully rebuilt and heavily modded 46RE, and a richmond rachet locker.

LOL, you should see it in person.  I think the welds just might make you vomit!  LOL.  But I've learn a lot from this car and I keep learning and I am taking it with the understanding that one day when I'm better I will redo all the things that are less than perfect!

Booksix-I have a Mustang (1994) lowered 1 1/2" and  a big problem with these cars when lowered is the drive shaft rubbing the brake cable bracket when you hit a big bump. I had to use washers on my pinion snubber to limit my suspension travel. Hopefully you won't have this problem with your bird.

Wow, that's crazy!  I never heard of that issue.  When I realized I had so little room my first thought was "Ford must have made the hump higher in the mustangs to allow room for the cables."  I guess we'll see, but thanks for the heads up! 

And now I should probably double check the diameter of that aluminum DS I just scored from the JY.  If it's larger than my stock one I don't think I'll be having is cut down.

ah welding is something you catch onto quickly.
just watching the amperage and wire speed, makeing sure you PREP everything first, and have a good ground, and getting good welds isnt that hard.

If I remember correctly, the floor boards in these things are galvanized, so it's rather difficult to get a good looking weld.

Just throw some paint over them and it's all good.

Wow, really, galvanized?  So, I never got that...  is it a coating or is it actually in the metal?  I know galvanized welds like , but I always thought it was a coating that could be sanded off...?
