How to improve my performance and MPG?

I've been hovering around the forums for a while now, and I am hoping that some of you people who are much smarter than I am, could help me out.  I don't know much about cars, but I'm learning, my dad has rebuilt the motor in my 88TC twice and knows most everything about the car.

I'm looking for ways to easily get some more power from my old car, and to get more comfortable working on it.  I've looked into a few different methods of doing so, however, as many of you know, information on these motors isn't so easy to come by, and my dad and I don't see one another often enough to really talk about it where I could get his opinion on the matter.

Thanks in advance

lower the boost, dont romp on it all the time and put smaller tires on it. None of these would give it better power though...

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
