you'll gain maybe 3hp, by removing parasitic drag.

It may eventually mess up your cats, as there will be no air injected into them any longer.
Not worth the price of the new belt for a dyno proven 1hp.

I got it done on my mustang, the cats were hollow though, now they're not there at all (replaced with a new H-pipe) But yeah, what has to happen is the small pipe from the H pipe, your case a Y pipe I think, has to be plugged and welded shut, then theres some other pipes that run alongside the back of the heads, those either need to be removed and the holes in the back of the heads are threaded so you could put a bolt in there, I believe theres some type of lock ring device thing inside those as well which will have to go to let the new bolts in, OR you could cut those pipes from the smog at the ends, and weld those shut as well. Then your ready to remove the smog pump from the belt assembly, and substitute with a shorter belt, or purchase a delete pully from any aftermarket part supplier, Summit will have several, I bought one, works well. I would recommend the pulley rather than a shorter belt just because if you can't get enough belt contact area on a critical pully (ie. pwr steering or alt or water) the belt may slip, or just not spin the pulley enough to work properly, the eliminator pulley just works like an idler, but keeps the stock belt pattern. Someone could correct me on this, but basically all of what I just said is how my mustang is, and it certainly smells pretty smoggy :D
