cuttin in turns Reply #5 – June 27, 2008, 08:06:39 PM You've "heard" it could be the computer?Who told you that?We don't have enough info to help you, period. We're not mind readers, you have to give us more info. Does it restart right away when it stalls? What exactly happens when it's "cutting out"? Quote Selected
cuttin in turns Reply #6 – June 28, 2008, 05:02:54 PM i hear a chattering noise and then it will cut... i have taken the passenger's side interior apart to hear where it is coming from more clearly, a redneck mechanic told me it could be the computer because that's where the chattering is comming from, it will take a few seconds to restart it but yes it will restart, i just filled the tank so its not gas! haha Quote Selected
cuttin in turns Reply #7 – June 28, 2008, 05:11:24 PM The computer isn't going to make ANY noise... Possibly the EEC power relay or the related wiring has a problem causing it to chatter... Quote Selected
cuttin in turns Reply #8 – June 28, 2008, 05:30:35 PM would that be causing the car to cut out though? Quote Selected
cuttin in turns Reply #9 – June 28, 2008, 05:31:53 PM If you are hearing "chattering" it's the relay as mentioned. What the issue sounds like the EEC relay is getting intermittent power...which points to a possible ignition switch issue (the steering column). They are a known fail point on '80's Fords. If the power is intermittent to the EEC relay, it will click. It also means the ECU is getting intermittent power...thus your stalling.Oh, and stop listening to redneck mechanics.... Quote Selected
cuttin in turns Reply #10 – June 28, 2008, 05:34:33 PM lol so how to stop from getting the other power??? get a new relay? Quote Selected

May not be the problem, but is no doubt the first possibility which should be eliminated... Quote Selected
cuttin in turns Reply #12 – June 30, 2008, 03:15:57 PM well it wasnt the relay.... anything else possible? Quote Selected
cuttin in turns Reply #13 – June 30, 2008, 03:18:50 PM You didn't read my post...otherwise your last post would have read,"well it wasnt the ignition switch..." Quote Selected
