Grrr... I'm Glad He Drove Away

I've only owned Cougar X for just over a year now, and we've gone about 23,000kms... guess that'd be about 14,300 miles.... covering all kinds of different ground. From city driving, to long cruises up Hwy 17, to evading deer and wild turkeys (and even a moose!), I guess it was inevitable....

Up in city driving (need I say more?)... a truck had slowed to make a left at a T intersection... the SUV in front of me was a little slow to break, but no biggie, I managed to slow my Cat with much room between me and the SUV to spare. I needed it.

The cavalier behind me... wasn't slowing down. It had about four teenagers in it, not paying any attention. .. probably high... finally he saw my red break lights. He tried to stop. I new he wouldn't quite make it... so I came up a little bit closer to the SUV in front of me, trying to give the cavalier some more room. It wasn't enough.

BAM. If we weren't awake before, we are know.

The cavalier collided. I am glad it was as no where as serious as some of the other hellish nightmares I've read about on this site.

I stick my head out the window and start shouting, get out! I start to open my door... and the cavalier just boots it. I wanted this to be handled correctly, i.e. get all the info, etc. But he booted it... that's made me even more angry than the original bam.

So, I am glad he did drive away. Either I would have ended up in the slammer, or his three other buddies would put me into the hospital.

I didn't get any info off the car as it happened so fast... all I knew was it was a blue cavalier. I thought it was green, but the paint he left on my rear bumper is most definitly blue.

Some people just shouldn't be driving. Driving is dangerous, don't get me wrong, it's FUN... but some people just shouldn't be driving.

Here's some pictures.... fourtunatly, it does not appear that there is any major damage. The hit occurred at a relativley low speed. 30ish kph (about 18mph) or lower.

So, thank-you Cougar X for protecting me and yourself.

And to the :asshole: driving the cavalier... :flip: If I ever see you again... :beatyoass:

Okay... I feel a little better... guess I needed to vent.

Thanks.

I understand you were angry, but I'm guessing yelling at him from the window probably scared him so he took off. He might have figureed you were going to beat the  out of him.

It's best to remain calm in these situations.... you probably would have gotten his info for it if you had.

Sorry it happened though.

I know the feeling..I have been rear ended at 50mph+ while I was at a red light in my 84 Cutlass. Moron was looking for a store and not watching the road. Wasn't pretty.

Now days there is a good chance that if I get out of the car in an accident, I'll have my badge and gun in tow. Thus, I'm not all to worried about Johnny teenager and his 3-4 friends. It's critical to get the tag info (if it's even legit) of the vehicle that is leaving.

Chances are... doofus didn't have insurance and GTFO of there.

Sorry about your damage man... Least it's not too too bad.

Yeah, you're probably right... but he had three other guys with him, and they all looked bigger than I..

LOL... that was more of the rant (I wouldn't know the guy if I fell over him). My bark is worse than my bite I guess :)

You could very well be right, I had guessed they were smoking pot and the driver was leaning for his turn from the back passenger. In either case, we'll never know.

I feel better now, thank-you everyone.

Even my car feels better! Or at least she will... I haven't got the blue paint off the rear yet, but as soon as the garage is free... But what is exciting, I found a tripminder!

You know, I was wondering the same thing, but it would seem that, no.  The incident didn't trip that switch as I was able to drive away... but sometimes gadgets just don't work like their supposed to either.

I'll continue to choose to look on the bright side though (and have some faith in that switch), and take it to mean that the damage is minor.  Based on visual inspections it would seem that this is the case.

But that still was a good question.
