Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen June 04, 2008, 10:07:18 PM Take a look at this one:http://www.carsforsale.com/used_cars_for_sale/1987_Mercury_Cougar_77543272_1Says its an L.A. Raiders edition, but it has a T-Bird nose on it, and check out that grill. I don't like it at all, definitely a case of cross breeding. Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #1 – June 04, 2008, 10:26:14 PM I actually like it! If ever I have reason to replace the front end of my car and need new headlights, I'll be going THAT rout. With the aftermarket headerpanel prices from body shops it will STILL be cheaper due to the fact you can still obtain new T-bird lights on the cheap as compared to the Cougar lights. The grille needs to be body color. That's the only downside to it. Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #2 – June 04, 2008, 11:17:02 PM I actually like the grill/nose. The Tbird bumper cover is definitely better. It gives me thought that if I do that conversion I should do the header pannel too.Where did he get the lower back seat? Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #3 – June 04, 2008, 11:20:36 PM Where'd he get a T-Bird grill with a Cougar logo? Anyway, kinda interesting looking - not really bad actually. Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #4 – June 04, 2008, 11:23:50 PM wonder what it would look like with some TC rims i am shocked it looks that clean with the front swapped out. i would drive it even if i wish it was more T-bird than Cougar. Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #5 – June 05, 2008, 01:08:24 AM I love it as well. The grille has me a little curious as well and i would suspect that there would have been a shop that modified a tbird grille. Eric may know more about if ford ever optioned a cougar with a tbird header panel and special grille. Quote Selected

Raiders" Silver & Black, Hard-To-Find Limited Edition Digital-Display . . . 1987 MERCURY COUGAR XR7 . . . was special ordered when NEW.That pretty much explains it... it was ordered that way.it looks to be pretty clean. Engine and tranny were both rebuilt... it's probably not a bad price for it either. Definitely unique. Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #7 – June 05, 2008, 09:06:14 AM Quote"L.A. Raiders" Silver & BlackI don't think it was a Raiders Edition or anything, just that the colors are those of the Raiders. I've never seen or heard of a Cougar with that front end. I think someone did it just to be different. Otherwise it's a fairly loaded '87 XR7. Pretty nice looking with that front end though, I have to admit. Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #8 – June 05, 2008, 09:50:34 AM It said it was ordered that way, so someone had to have liked the Raiders, lolThey were a pretty hot team back then though.. even had their own theme song "Silver and Black Attack", it was based on the song "Yellow & Black Attack" by Stryper. I only know this because my high school used it as their theme song for a couple of years and our mascot happened to be a knight...so it kind of fit. Silver & Black Attack Video Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #9 – June 05, 2008, 05:27:24 PM If it was ordered that way, you would think the dealer or factory or aftermarket add-on place would have continued the XR-7 pin striping below the belt line. I agree with Eric, someone did that on their own. Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #10 – June 05, 2008, 06:29:14 PM i'd like the cougar nose on the birds actually.i like the flatness. then again im the guy that wants to put a capri nose on a notchback mustang. Quote Selected
Weirdest Cougar I've ever seen Reply #11 – June 05, 2008, 06:31:01 PM Also it may just be me but the front fenders look like a different shade of paint, which adds to the point of the car being in an accident and someone not knowing the difference between the two cars just added the nose because it fit, kind of like that light blue 87-88 with a four eye front end. I loved it. For some reason the flat Cougar front and slopey T-Bird back window work well together. Quote Selected
