Guide to Engine assembly

Perhaps you guys know of a good book that details how to assemble a high performance 302? I am a newbie when it comes to messing around with the insides of an engine, but I'm tired of being reliant on others work on my car. If you guys can think of any sort of reference material that guides you through with step by step instructions it would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Tony

doing is the only way but you shold not limit yourself to just a v8 ford.

knowing the various configurations out there and how they work will be key.

dont ignore the 4 bangers either.

The major engine configuration changes to date range in how the camshaft does work.  some are overhead - belt, chain or gear to gear while others are dead nuts center of the block working push rods.

just ask to take a few different ones apart then you'll see how they work.

im 17, and have ripped down and rebuilt a 350 before, a 2.3, and a 351w, its easy, simple stuff. Take your time, make sure you keep stuff ORGANIZED(ziplock bags are your friend), and CLEAN(dirt will KILL your engine, keep it out). Properly lube during assembly, and make sure you get the proper torque specs for the bolts. If you are not sure if something should be replaced, you should prob replace it(learned that the hard way with the 350, skipped replacing the timing chain, now it needs one badly).
