Newbie, Oldie Elsewhere!

What's a Fairmont Guy doing in an Eagle and Cougar Ranch!? :D

I've been restoring my Mexican-built Fairmont Squire from the ground up since November 2006, when the 302 died in my yard (a bolt fell into the carb, and she died. I'd just got back from my Favorite Ford Dealer (yeah, there are good ones) and mentioned to the Dealership Owner that I was looking for good Fairmont Six (200 CID) and he gave the name of a retired politician who wanted to sell his to get a newer Ford Wagon. $350 later and 24 hours, I had a freshly rebuilt I6 and Tranny (3 months before some lady smucked his rear bumper in a parking lot up to halfway into the trunk).

So I painted it, put on new Woodgrain, refinished the wood mouldings, refinished and restored the interior, POR-15 the whole undercarriage, new stoneguard. And I'm about to install the original dash with a plan to make up a new one. I want gauges, not (after the fact) idiot lights.

I went to the CoolCats.net site and got here.

I've been driving since 1968 - no accidents, no tickets. And raced Hemi fuellers for my Dad and my junkyard before I went to University. Ex-military in Canada's Electromechanical Engineers. Just cruising your impressive site! Very nice tech, very nice folks. My first home is the Station Wagon Forums, and the FourEyedFox forum.

As parts get scarcer, and more Fairmonts melt in rust, I want to keep mine off the bleeding edge, so you're newer tech is really inspiring. Thanks.

So you swapped a 302 out for an I-6?  Interesting!  That looks awesome for a roller paint job.  What kinda paint did you use?

And... Welcome!
