Battery group number - 65 or 59?

All,

Well, if I can't get it charged in some way, looks like I'll have to replace my battery.

Now, given the way the overflow tube points on the replacement radiator, and the bulk of the group 65 battery... well, I came across a reference that the group 59 battery is also useable for the T-bird.

Um, how much smaller is the group 59 battery?  Is there any downside to using it?

Awesome . . thanks for the link.

So, 2 inches less length, and 1/16th of an inch less height.

But, could the 1/8th inch greater width make it not fit in the battery tray?

Guess I'll have to stop at an auto parts store and try one....

very belated EDIT: whoops, 3/16ths of an inch MORE height...

My 88 cougar 3.8 came with the large group 65 batt. My 84 turbo coupe came with group 58. I swapped the 88 tray into the 84 it is tight but it still fits.
