What are these wires for?? (besides conducting electricity)

I found these didnt notice the second part which goes into the seatbelt thing nex to the seat until after I seen the part that is showing bare wires. Just wondering what it is for and is it necessary??

Those wires are for conducting electricity.  Sorry, the question in the subject line was begging for that.  Other than that, those are the wires that go into your seatbelt buckle, to turn off the little seatbelt man on the dash.  What you have happens when someone doesn't know about that plug, and c00ches the seat out with out knowing what they are doing.  I see stuff like that all the time, and the funny part is when they act like they have no idea what is wrong with their car, and try to get the repair done under warranty.

Nah, it's not that important, just tape them off seperately, so you don't get a dead short, and then tape them together out of the way somewhere, and pull the bulb out from behind the red seatbelt guy in your instrument cluster.  Unless you really need a little red guy to remind you to put your seatbelt on.......

Connecting them together perminently will turn the light out.
It's just a simple two wire normally open circuit, when the seatbelt is connected it closes and turns out the light,it will not cause a short if you connect them.

I ment that if they were left to flop around and touch something they were not supposed to.

Got ya guys thanks... I figured they were for something like that Ill prob just tape them off seperately and leave them as is. I dont need a little red guy to tell me somehting im not going to do anyway ( I know not too intelligent but I do not like them at all).
