87 shift linkage

I am new to the forum and just recieved a 1987 cougar. Its in decent shape but im having some problems with the shift linkage from the column to the trans. We tried to call ford and order all new parts and they are unavailable. Almost all the poly grommets are shot and the linkage itself is pretty well rusted. I have it to where it will shift through the gears but its really rough. Wanted to see if there was somewhere to order new parts or if someone on here had one in decent shape they would be willing to part with.

Welcome to the forum. If cleaning it up with a wire brush/wd-40 and replacing the grommets is out of the question than I guess you need to replace it. I don't think you will find a "new" part, but used you shouldn't have any problem. Plus it would be cheaper.  I would try posting in the parts wanted forum or send vinnietbird a private message he usually makes several trips to the junkyard a month, gets really nice parts, and is a very respected seller on this forum.

Salt in the Midwest is making these things rare. I barely see any in the wreaking yards let alone driving around anymore..........
