351 into 88 Cougar

I believe it's been covered but I can't find anything.
Basically, my block is trashed so I'm considering going with a 351...

So what do I need, swap headers and oil pan? Am I able to use my shorty headers and make my own exhaust?

Just use the search and there are plenty of guys here who did a 351 build. The links below I got from the search box there back when I was going to put in a 351.

If you already have a bunch of 302 stuff I would say just stay with the 302. If your planning on exceeding 350 hp you might as do the 351w block for stronger block and more room for future mods.

My 351w rebuild evolved into a 408 stroker because I was already buying pistons and rods why not spend the extra $$ and go with more cubes. Than that turned into a forged stroker kit which really set me back in my car budget (bye-bye paint job lol). So you really need to sit down and work out your budget and what you want the car to do. Whatever you come up with add at least 20% for stuff you forgot.

It really has to be worth it to you power wise to buy the swap pan, headers, and other items needed to go from 302-351. The idea is to do it once and buying used parts to cut costs when possible helps your overall car budget and can really open some doors up for you.

I completely understand that, but my buddy over here keeps telling me to get a 351 but I'd rather not...

Eventually, I do want a 351, but at this time and date I don't think I can afford it and it's not practical.
I only need a bare 302 block and I'll have the  car running...
