Trunk with Spoiler Heavy, does not stay open.

My 85 Bird has a spoiler on the trunk and as a result, the trunk does not stay open becasue of the added weight.  Has anybody had the same issue and found a resolution?  I know my wife's Jeep had these sort of shock things on the back window... mabe somebody had added them or has a better fix.

like said,, the trunk tension bars can be sorted or re positioned iirc.  I think the indents are on the driver side of the trunk where you terminate one tention bar.

who ever invented that concept must have a facinating mind to say the least.

hhhmmmm had no idea.  I'll go torque a tension bar, or terminate a sorter thingy.

But really, thanks.  I'll take a look to see if I can figure that out.

Well when i added a wing to my T bird i ended up taking the tension bars out using a part of a bent wheelie bar as a prop.
Who said you cant reuse old parts :)

I wanted to thank you for the tip.  I adjusted them last night and it works perfectly.

I utilized a 9" jack handle to get them to the 2nd position.  Only took me 5 minutes or so.

Glad it worked out.  I've never actually had to do that myself.  The trunk lid just keeps getting lighter.

IF I add a spoiler to my Sport,I'll add the little struts.I have a few sets in the garage.I haven't been able to bring myself to add a spoiler though.I think they look alright on Cougars, but with the Bird's shorter deck,it just doesn't "fit" the look of the car.It all comes down to personal taste though.I may change my mind someday.
