OEM Fuel Lines

Alo all,

Does anybody have or know where I could find two fuel lines for Cougar X?

Specifically, I am looking for the flexible line connecting the sending unit to the metal delivery line running the length of the body. The second line is the flexible line connecting the sending unit to the metal return line running the length of the body.

Anybody???

I've never had to mess with my T-Bird's fuel line's,but hopefully I can help you out here. A couple year's ago, I had a fuel leak in a Tempo, both ends of the line were different sizes. I went to every parts store within 50 miles with no luck. The line was a discontinued part. After a week of searching, I finally had to resort top making my own. I went to Lowe's and found a brass reducer in the plumbing dept. (1/4"-5/16" I think!) With that and 2 new pieces of high pressure fuel line and 4 small hose clamps, I was on the road again. I know it lasted at least 4 years, then the car was sold. Please pay close attention to what you are doing. A homemade fuel line isn't one of the safest repairs, but sometimes we have to do what must be done, so please note that this is only a suggestion.

Yeah, the problem I ran into as well was "discontinued line", I've been searching the net with no success as yet...

I know what you mean by being very careful, that's why I am back in this position. I made a line, that is now leaking... so I drop the tank, I and now either need to fix the existing line, buy an OEM line or get very creative.

And on that note, plus it's warm out.... :) I am on my way to the garage to see what I can do.

However, I am still looking for OEM lines if at all possible...!

have your dealer do a parts search.if the flexible lines are the
same as a mustang ppi has them on their site.look under the
engine section.--[perfomancepartsinc.com]
jim dingle's the owner and who you will talk to. tell him i
told you to call[he will probably then hang up on you].
there is a picture of the lines on the site. they also come
with the high volumefuel pump in the ford motorsport
catalog--irv toms

I will compare the numbers with Ford's 'obsolete' part with the fuel lines on that site...

But even if the fuel lines don't work out, I did find the Ford HO plate!!! :D

Took a trip into Ford...
The Feed/Delivery Line: E5LY-9B286-A
The Return Line: E5LY-9C318-A

I have decided to rebuild by own custom lines using new fittings and lines for this round anyway :hick:

However, I will have to do this again in the future for my other cars and if, perchance, I can get pre-fabbed OEM-type lines, it would simplify things...

The OEM nylon in the link I posted is put into hot water and slid over the OEM duck bill fittings - I highly doubt you will find pre-fabbed lines. Anyway, your welcome for posting exactly what you were looking for :hick:

Cougar5.0, your links were very helpful. Thank-you. Infact, I have arrived at the solution... the nylon repair lines are what I purchased just today, and am waiting for the 'duck bill fittings' to arrive via NAPA tomorrow morning.

The missing link I had in all of this was the hot water. That simplifies things greatly.

But hey, I would still be very curious in finding out if some aftermarket place sells the prefabbed Cougar lines...

both parts are obsolete and my dealer ran the locator.no dealers
are sitting on either of them . green sales and vintage parts
dont have them either. sorry.--irv toms

Thank-you for looking anyway Irv!

So, I have my nylon (Type 12) repair lines, and have boiled a pot of water.
The diameter of the nylon line is 5/16. I am trying to connect the 'duck-bill' to the line. I have tried heating the line, but for the life of me I cannot get the line over the barbed connector.

I have tried heat, like propane, my lighter, etc, but it just melts or destroys the nylon and as a result, won't sit properly.

Am I missing something? Or is it possible my boiled water isn't hot enough?? Doesn't water boil at 100 degrees C?

Any sugesstions would be greatly appreciated.
