408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018)

Small update, engine is almost fully assembled. I'm putting the lower intake and valve covers on today. I layed them on the block last night before I went to bed and took a couple pics.

I had trouble fitting the pioneer balancer on the night before. I made some measurements on the crank and some on the balancer and it looks like the balancer needs to be honed a little bit. The instructions for the balancer had a chart for the acceptable interference and I was not within the specs. I'm bringing the balancer and my crank measurements to the machine shop today and see what my machinist suggests.

I want to get this running by labor day weekend. So I can get it broken in and to the track end October early November.

Here's a couple pics, hopefully I'll have pics of it with a car wrapped around it soon ;)

Looking good.

Check your throttle linkage braket for clearnce on the valve covers
before you get it set in the car. Dur to lack of clearance  for the hood you wont be able to raise the upper  enough for the trottle bracket. I had to cut mine and shorten it. Just another stumbbling block in the road.

 Just try to help

Cool thanks for the heads up. Yeah there's been alot of stumbbling blocks in this project. I was already to drop it in tomorrow and I noticed one of the heads is missing the Thermactor Plug, no biggie I picked one up today, I went to screw it in and found the remainder of the old plug still in the head partially destoyed with a hole in it. I'm guessing that head was on the other side of the motor because the emissions tube was hooked up and it didn't cause any problems. Well I need the threaded plug to hang my accessory bracket so I need to drill/tap out the remainder of the plug tomorrow. First silly balancer issues and now this. Oh well at this point I'll be happy if it sees the track by October and I get some runs in this year.

Hey btw when is the pinks all out episode I didn't want to miss it.

Its finally in.

I finally got the engine and tranny in with the help of my good friend Erik. We dropped the motor and tranny together and I have to say I'll never do it any other way. It was so much easier. Just have to hook everything back up now and get my brakes and suspension work done.

I'll have more pics in a day or so. I only have a couple with me right now.

I can't wait to get it started, the BBK longtubes fit good no problems. I had to take off the driverside to clear the steering shaft, than I put it back on before completely dropping it in.
