That sucks, but at least the roads were clear of stuff on the shoulder. About 13 years ago my dad pulled something like that in our T-Bird and nearly took out a line of parked cars.

Why are you driving that beauty in the winter?!?!

Im driving it cause its my only car, well most of my driving is split between it and my gf's shadow. I take my car for when *I* want or need to go somewhere and we take heres when she needs to get somewhere.

The hood is open, had to jump it after running the 4 ways all night. I have no idea how long it lasted. I went off the road at 1:30-2:00 am and went back to the car at around noon today, so that was a good 10 hours at least. It was dead enough to reset the radio but not the tripminder. Strange.

The roads were NOT clear at all when I went off. They didnt touch that road until after 10am. When I was driving down it I washiznitting drifts a good 2-3 feet high probably. Normally it wouldnt be a problem but I guess its just one of those times. Im lucky I didnt go into the small creek that runs under the road somewhere around there. That chibby pickup would NOT have gotten me out then.

What happened was we went and got her (gf's friend) yesterday evening to come hang out (I figured I would drive instead of her driving to us in her geo metro...) and I didnt know but she wanted to go back home that night rather than in the morning, she had to go to work at 10am. I let her and my gf talk me into taking her home at 2am. I had my objections but was like ah well. Well needless to say she felt really bad when we landed in there in the middle of the night.  Well since we were only a mile or so from her house she just called her parents and had them come get us.

It really sucked to leave it there all alone in that ditch overnight, but we really just needed to get some rest. The weather was awful last night and I never shoulda been on them roads. The wind was blowing up drifts like nothing. And... do you guys have any idea how hard it is to open our doors when theyre pointing up at 30-45 degrees? With like 30+ mph wind blowing against it.

When we woke up in the morning I was thinking of calling my dad to have him get me out, but then I realized the little ol ranger aint gonna do a thing there. The gravitational pull of my car would probably pull it in with me! :hick:  Plus my dad would be like "WHAAAT?!?! Told you you shouldnt be driving out in this!" hahah

Ended up having my gf call her chiropractor, theyre good friends and all, and it still took him close to half an hour to get me out with his 8.1 liter gas chugger. Not fun at all.

Im gonna have to look the car over once it warms up. I think I probably destroyed the ABS wiring to both driver side wheels with the tow strap. It seems to be driving straight though. A little rumbly right now cause of the snow in the...snowflakes. The engine bay was packed with snow from it blowing up under all night plus the "impact". The engine running melted every bit of it except in front of the radiator... I was worried about overheating on the way home.

Sucks having to use a car like that as your DD in the winter. I did it with one of those cars once, and I ruined it.

I would still have it if I didn't have to drive it in the winter.

8.1 liters, 8 mpg, TWO peglegs! He almost got himself in the ditch trying to pull me out.  I doubt he woulda gotten out.

I did the same thing about 6 or 7 years ago.  I was coming home from work at about 1 AM and apparently they had closed the highway, but they didn't have the signs up, so I drove on.  I could barely crawl, but everything was going ok...until I got about ¼ mile from home and then not only did I have basically no traction, I couldn't see anything.  I ended up going sideways and the front end was off of the road and the rear tires were barely on the shoulder.  I was hoping I could back onto the road and get the rest of the way home, but all I did was end up sliding farther down into the ditch.  The next morning Highway Patrol royally reamed me out for driving on a closed road, but I didn't get fined for it at least.  A few of my friends were out snowmobiling before we got back to it to pull it out and thought it was just a big drift and almost ran into it.  Then they were worried that I was still in it, but I wasn't.
