Does anyone know anything about 68's??

I might have found one that I want to buy for Roger for his birthday this year, if I can swing it.....

Anything I should look for in it?

BTW, yeah, I know it's 40 yrs old.... but he will be too in May. :D

Better yet, do you have a pic of it. where is it from?
pics are always good. esp. the underneath. Its easy to hide problems on a car with primer and undercoating.

The floor pans, torque boxes, rear sub frames, rear qtrs. The upper
lip of the frt inner shock towers.

Very limited parts for those cars. They don't make replacement
qtrs. Can be a very large under taking.  Just be aware.
The early cougars are KOOL  I have sevral.  GOOD LUCK

5.8fastcat is right about problem areas but parts are getting more available. If you need parts I can refer you to several companies that have parts or if you prefer original I have a cellar full of 67-68 parts. I owned many of these.

Ahhh, thanks guys!! This helps me a lot.

Roger has stopped and looked at it and got a price. He said it has a V8. The body looks to be in good condition, although I haven't gotten to look at it myself. Interior is really good too.
I don't know how much he's looked at it for anything else though since I wasn't with him.

My hope is to have a surprise party for him and just have it hidden somewhere so I can hand him the keys and make him wonder. LOL

Some details as to price, engine, and XR7 or not would be nice to know.  All cougars were V-8's, in 68 they offered the 302 in both 2 and 4 bbl and 390 models.  Look at the front floor pans for rust.  The vents tended to leak on these and drip on the floor to soak the carpet.  If the headlight fold up and the tail lights blink correctly it's a good thing.  Disc brakes are also more common than the Mustang and a good thing.

These are not worth as much as the Mustangs and are harder to sell when you want to.

Also make sure all the chrome is there, you cannot buy reproductions and the old stuff is very expensive.  If you find missing parts go onto eBay and price it.

But the running gear is the same as the Mustang (except for the rear springs and driveline) so parts are easy to find, and upgrades are easy to do.

The XR7 had leather inserts and if yours are bad it's expensive to restore.

One of the best looking cars ever made.
