Any of you guys ever see/have a radiator...

look like it sustained a couple 12-gauge round impacts? :hick:

What I hate is in the above picture is the radiator looks GREAT. Seriously, folks. It looks.....oh roughly ~121,164,456,434,500,555,998 times worse in person. I mean...if it was possible (not to mention common enough for it to be defined by law) for a car radiator to be murdered...this is what it would look like.

That was caused by me accidentally LIGHTLY bumping it against the '38's solid steel chrome front bumper when moving it. Like I was sifting friggin sand or something!

Now for some GOOD stuff!!!

Nice clean SOLID with-all-paint-intact radiator. Got it from a local guy, along with a 3-core or 3-row or 3-whatever radiator (also for a stang like this one)....for $75 grand total. Sittin in his basp00get for like 6 months and he wanted them to move the hell out already! So I'll prolly 'bay the other one and even if I don't get much it will still be a win!!! The one in the car he bought like 7-8 months ago new from the dealer. It's real solid and clean, he said it worked perfectly, no clogs or leaks.

And finally for the hell of it

I gotta post a pic of the box for this thing. Like circa 1985 Hayden tranny cooler. Dad bought it for the 87 tbird he had new. Towed a trailer at times. It got wrecked shortly though...so this never was neeed :hick: It came with only one adpater to a rubber hose, though so I gotta wait to hook it up 'til I get another :giggle: But at least it's ready and mounted.

The rad in my 88 van had holes like that.
I didn't want to buy a new one because I was going to get a new van.
So I was soldering them till I sold it.

Was the radiator in a car when shotgunned?  If "yes", then you owe us a story before proceeding.

HAHA well I'm guessing it's just road salt over 20 years. Still seems odd but that's all I can think of. Those fins were just all REALLY worn away and corroded, like green and RED too (huh? lol) and weak and just the air moving across blew them right away.

I mean my dad did rear-end someone at like 5 mph in this car. No structural damage just scuffed the trim paint off the bumper exposing the yellow and cracking up the grille and lights...I wouldnt think the rad got pushed into the fan??? Who knows....all I care is that P--O--S is gone and I'm good to go :D

I thnk I can trump that:

I made it to cat jam and back with no problems with it like that....  and you can see it was leaking at the time too.

Amazing. I really can't believe how pily some stuff is built today (really yesterday in this case!) Copper and brass I thought that stuff wasn't supposed to corrode or anything????

The radiator in my '38 Buick is 100% SOLID. It looks old alright but it's like a tank. Oh well maybe I can keep this one up nice. It certainly won't see 120+ thousand miles of usage!

Actually plastic / aluminum radiators seem to last longer than the copper ones.

Right I was thinking about it and really the NEW stuff, not new when THESE were new, is better, as you said aluminum + plastic.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I put a Modine plastic & aluminum radiator in my car from Napa. Cools great and only cost $120. The copper-brass ones are getting hard to find.
